Dull. Dull dull dull dull dull
It 'will do'. AHAHAHAH.
A lot of advance tracks from touted albums tend to be now. Also it sounds like Dear Science watered down and I'd like to retain hope about *something*.
it just doesn't sound like they tried very hard on this song. And, am I crazy, or are the harmonies (usually a highlight in TVOTR songs) a bit... Seal. The puns help alleviate my disappointment.
for another uneven album which I'll really grow to like. Can't tell from one track though and likewise would hope for a more varied album. Did think the song lacked bite but did sound more interesting towards the end.
but then this is only the third TVOTR track I've ever heard (after Wolf Like Me & dancing Choose). I have a copy of return to Cookie mountain lying in a box somewhere i'll dig it oot some day
But this doesn't excite me very much :(
Was expecting better
:O *I know I'm over-selling*
But Jesus, first we get the luke warm Dear Science after the triumphant Cookie Mountain now we get this utterly flat turd.
It's alright. I was hoping they'd move away from the sheen of Dear Science, though, as I miss the bite Cookie Mountain had.
Might listen to Cookie Mountain now, actually.
It's really really good.
I remember when Dear Science was about to come out, and I was sure it was going to be TVOTR's 'Great Album', the one that really defined them and which proved to be a benchmark of sorts in our sort of music circles. Then it came out and it was good, but after a few months I realised it wasn't as good as Cookie Mountain, the album I'd thought was merely 'Very Good', not 'Great', and that Cookie Mountain had become sort of 'Great' in comparison to the slight whimper that was Dear Science.
I miss waiting for TV On The Radio to make an indisputable masterpiece.
More than most of the tracks on Dear Science anyway. Promising.
but not unwelcome
this is excellent
RTCM - Album of the century
i'm a bit tired of waiting for TVOTR to do their masterpiece.
although, saying that i just adore desperate youth and RTCM.
regardless, i'm still glad they're back and will be looking forward to this album
Whilst this new song sound good it is hard to judge without the context of the rest of the album. That being said I think this new track is interesting enough to suggest it is worth getting my hopes up for another great album from TVOTR.
I mean, DLZ was the clear standout from Dear Science, but this is just piss-weak. Not promising.
reminds me of this Siouxsie and the banshees song 'Peekaboo'
I think I could really dig it with a few more plays.
it'd be nigh on impossible to make an album that good again, but they could at least make it sound like they're trying
But I'm a sucker for TVOTR's more sensuous side.
first impressions are "meh." Like an even more sedate Dear Science...
but it shows little evolution in their sound & a TVOTR album lacking in originality seems a little empty. Still, if you liked Dear Science, you'll like 9 Types of Light.
