must had the worst parents ever.
"Appetite" it's pop perfection.
I don't think I've ever seen Prefab Sprout mentioned by so many people - on here, on Twitter, by bands - as I have in the last few weeks, not even when they had records out, and Paddy's not even got anything ready to release.
Have hardly listened to anything else than Swoon this month.
Really good stuff
Is one of the greatest albums of all time. Seriously. I can't describe how much I love that record.
must have had the worst parents ever.
Thanks for the topic.
Prefab are an acquired taste, but those acoustic versions of Steve McQueen previously mentioned are surely unarguably brilliant.
to actually hate Prefab Sprout. Steve McQueen one of my favorite albums ever and I loved Jordan. The most recent one he put out is wonderful too if you can get past the Christian themes. I personally think When Love Breaks Down is one of the top 5 greatest, most truthful break up songs ever.
you join the wrecks,
who leave their hearts for easy sex'
of this, and it's wonderful, I had to rethink my whole attitude towards the band after that. I'd written off Lloyd Cole for similar reasons, namely it was stuff my older sister was into :D
It was the soundtrack to my heartbreaking romantic failures of my early teenage years. And i agree with the OP that "Appetite" is pop perfection, it's my favourite track on the album and i became obsessed with it again quite recently.
I've never loved any other Sprout record as much as this one, in fact the only other one i own right now is Jordan which is great but just doesn't have that same melancholic feeling i was searching for during those lonely teenage nights. I've never heard 'swoon' mind you.
seems to be very much the in thing with the kids these days. Who's going to be critically rehabilitated next, Level 42?
The world is now a better place.
they're too bland & inoffensive to hate. I just got sick of hearing "King of Rock & Roll" 20 times a day back in 1987 & it put me off them for good.
but it doesn't stop me loving Steve McQueen, Swoon and Jordan, The Comeback.
bap bap baaaaaaa
Not sure what would go wrong in someone's soul to make them hate a band that write songs as good as when love breaks down
but I would like to associate myself with this thread celebrating the wonderful music of Paddy McAloon
my parents are lovely by the way.
there's ever been.
i worship at the altar of mcaloon.
our version of 'cars and girls' was hilarious so we had to stop playing it out of respect.
glad to hear there's a portastatic cover of 'when love breaks down'...ON IT.
