I always instinctivly think swag means a load of shit, it only sounds like a good thing if said by an american. If an english person says it swag sounds like a diss haha
Can't beat the energy of these guys they're a load of fun.
Holy hell that was entertaining. I had that feeling like WHAT ON EARTH ARE THEY GONNA DO the whole time (and throughout the day tbh).
Pretty hard not to be enjoying this wave right now, consider me on board after a couple few months of skepticism.
The Roots, Fallon and Mos Def all earned some extra swag bucks here.
I hope Hodgy gets a bit more recognition off the back of this, but oh my god those guys were born to be on TV.
i got a bit of a ICP vibe from this.
Is this what people are going on about now? How...wacky?
*puts on Halls of Illusion*
just didn't really get into this performance.
Thought I'd take a look after seeing this Tyler guys name a lot over the last couple of days.
Even if you don't like the track the video is incredible.
first ive bothered actually listening. thought 'oh, theyre being deliberately weird to get attention. this is certainly something we need more of'
kept watching though, and dang it's actually quite good.
I mean I cottened on to them quite early cos I'm a geek like that and I soon found out they where playing with the shock with pretty diffrently. They're really extream and play up to it but they do it with such energy, humore, intensity and skill that they take it somewhere else. They're like a lady gaga/tony hawks/mf doom collaberation, loads of pop/shock/hip-hop things going on in their tunes lol.
Alllllllllll the way. Want to put them on in UK! They are playing Primavera after all....
fuckfuckfuck. not being able to go is ruining my life
Probably was amazing but sold out in an hour or something. So yeah....bring 'em back.
pretty gutted to miss that
They hate and Wu comparisons. But ICP is even more ridiculous
Didn't strike me as OMG WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO NEXT?@?@ as it seemed to Pitchfork, but was certainly fun.
Being good on Tv is pretty much impossible anyhow.
I think I might love her
According to this: http://oddfuture.tumblr.com/post/3327329544/dont-forget-ofwgkta-will-be-performing-on-the it was Rosie O'Donnell, aka ROSEANNE.
But checking the Fallon website it wasn't a big fat lady from the 90s, it was Felicia Day.
Good performance. I'm not quite FULLY ONBOARD WHOA! Maybe I'm just put off by how young they look.
Yeah, it's just jealousy. He's running around on TV having a ball, getting hyped, playing with the Roots and hugging Mos Def.
are they? I'm sure they aren't.
I just read the first line of her wiki entry and assumed. What an ass.
I'm going to have to wait until I'm home from work :(
Man, Tyler has a lot of charisma.
They were obviously just gonna go a bit mental rather than try to put on a "great" performance.
I do like pretty much anyone who runs around the TV studio though. Can't believe more people don't do it. The bits where the guests or the audience try their best to appear into it are always gold.
I've really not been in the loop with these though. Educate me somebody
And then download the tapes from their Tumblr.
Download Bastard by Tyler, then BlackenedWhite by Mellowhype, then Earl, then Journey by Jet Age of Tomorrow.
That'll give you a good idea.
I'll get right on it
It's patchy in parts, but it's really beautifully done, and aggressive as fuck. It's up for free on the OFWGKTA site, along with almost all of everything else.
or are tube socks starting to look cool?
Especially Hody's verse. Also kudos to the roots for making the beat even more hard ass.
Who's face is in the cross on his shirt?
That'd probably make more sense than Earl.
Mos running into the camera at the end going "SWAG! SWAG! SWAG!" pretty much sums up how I feel.
they ended up looking kind of adorable and fresh faced instead of snoty, it worked though.
I kind of wish it could always be that way, because let's be honest, a lot of the subject matter is crude, but everything else is sooooo good but it's hard to resist.
you can't really take them seriously I mean thy're just geeky hipster skate kids trolling over shit hot beats and good flows lol
you just have to detach a little. Like watching Audition or something (bad comparison?).
since my 12 year old self first heard Doggystyle.
These guys are the first group to make that argument resurface in quite some time. I think the Fallon performance showed that they can balance teenage rage with playfulness. I had wondered if there was any humanity in there, but they have been revealing it recently.
Having said that, the rape stuff is unnecessary imo. I feel like they could pull that back without losing any of their identity. It could have just been a ploy to get them on the map though, idk.
murder is cool, rape isn't. <- theShipment ethics 101
I don't even buy they drink or do drugs to be honest they just seem like they're playing at it all. But they do it with so much energy, talent and personality that it all works. Its a fine line they tred but right now they're doing it alright. When they grow pubes it might be more sinister haha
as I settle into adulthood with kids and such.
This was a favorite of mine when I was 14 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HuFNmgWt1Eg
about all the music, and he was also getting into legal trouble, so they sent him off somewhere like boarding school or military camp.
The legend grows.
thats what the free earl stuff has been about haha
Its a shame if its true cos he's prob the most talent rapper of the lot.
It's making for helluva cool character.
Now there's a tour I'd like to see.
a bit underwhelmed to be honest
was alright though
