Is he any good solo? I say solo, looks like he's playing as a four-piece, but you know what I mean.
saw him in Leicester last night and enjoyed it. He even cracked a couple of jokes, which I've never seen him do when he's with Idlewild.
About half the stuff he played was from his forthcoming album, about half from his previous album and the Drever/McCusker one. He even threw in a cover of You Held the World In Your Arms during the encore.
saw him in Reading earlier this week. His voice is brilliant, the band are tight and he seemed happy to be there. We got a couple of Idlewild songs too. Bought a poster off him after the show - sadly I couldn't hold back the gibbering fanboy in me, but he seems like a really nice guy.
Love his solo stuff (listened to it on train back from Band Of Horses just last night), but Idlewild did a great acoustic version of Self Healer I'd love to hear him do. And Happy To Be Here Tonight. Must admit I'm a massive fanboy as well. Managed to see Idlewild soundcheck on their Post-Electric Blues tour and it was like a dream come true, with them asking me what tunes I wanted them to play. It was like I had my own Idlewild real-life jukebox. Seeing Roddy in Guildford next month. Can't wait.
from Post Electric Blues. That sounds great by the way (watching Idlewild sound check and picking songs), hope they come back in a few years as the last album was damn good, prob their best since The Remote Part.
I love Take Me Back To The Islands. Fingers crossed for that at Guildford.
In what appears to be a village hall out in the sticks near my parent's house in North Wales. Looks as though the setlist should be a decent, so hopefully be a good night.
great in Belfast this past Sunday. There's a review on the bbc of it:
I see he's going to be doing full band electric gigs later in the year so hopefully get to one of those as well.
pandered to my chatting to him about folk songs too, which was pretty amaze.
