In further news, aint had a Viscount biscuit for ages.
I have to say though, that the judge seemed oddly kind-hearted.
No, not really.
I can't help thinking that if another member of staff at Tesco had defrauded the company by a third of a million pounds, they might not have received such a glowing tribute from the judge.
...oh dear. Presumably this is the end of the road for Standon then. Obviously. The line-up was pretty decent the last few years, this probably explains it a bit.
on their facebook page, someone has pretty explicitly inquired about the festival this year (specifically in light of this news story) and they've received a reply that the festival is indeed happening. So... the plot thickens.
or whether he had external help as it grew.

and continued for a 21-month period.
2009 and 2010 were the years that the festival got big, in terms of line-up, but having seen photos of the attendance at these ones, I'd be VERY surprised if they didn't make a loss too.
just had an email forwarded from one of them. poor guy! fuck! if you're gonna defraud tesco out of a shitload of money then it might as well be to put on a festival as brilliant as standon, rather than to buy a fuckin gold yacht or some shit.
"I know that Alex very much regrets his actions and feels great remorse for the distress he has caused, but the festival is about more than just one person. The team have been preparing for this year’s festival and Alex’s absence for a number of months. Standon Calling 2010 was a resounding success and we are building on that."
Of course, anyone they do announce will be greeted by choruses of "and how are you paying for them?"
I imagine this years festival will have a less "Finest", and a more "Value" flavour about it.
