heard them by chance and quite like that 80s/90s shoegazey sound...
and never really listened to one album as such. You might wanna try the compilation 'Capsule' but 'Strange Free World' looks the strongest otherwise.
My favourite song is 'Drive that fast'. Amazing song.
The only album I have is Strange Free World. It's great! Well worth getting hold of.
you want Love Is Hell - the debut LP. I saw them live twice, once supporting Darling Buds in Bristol 1989 and then in 1996 at Southampton Joiners just before they split up. Both gigs were amazing. Capsule is well worth getting, too, as it has stacks of stuff on it
Unfairly lumped in with Shoegaze I think these guys had their own sound. You need everything and you can get it all dirt cheap so there is no excuse. Buy Love is hell first which was also released as a full album with some bonus tracks. Then buy Strange Free World which is their masterpiece and the perfect culmination of their sound. After that The Death of Cool and finally Cowboys and Aliens. The first 3 are essential and Cowboys they started to dip a bit but it is still great with some of their best songs. I've been playing the first 3 albums regularly since I was llike 14. I'm now 32.
The Death Of Cool. Tis very good. I should investigate further.
agree with malick that Drive That Fast is a wonderful song, if you're just looking for a couple of other songs to check you like them, go for Railwayed, On Tooting Broadway Station, and 4 Men.
just dive in though; they're a wonderful band
i guess starting with the sort of best of / compilation album sounds sensible
If you like House of Love, Ride and The Cure, I guarantee you'll love Kitchens of Distinction.
As everyone else says, Strange Free World & Death of Cool = immense.
Elephantine is their best track.
Make sure you get the version of Love is Hell that adds the tracks from the Elephantine EP on the back end - or look out for the EP itself.
And I don't mean the alt accoustic version of the track on the Capsule compilation "Elephantiny". That's not the ticket at all. Don't why they didn't put the original version on.
