Most Anticipated Releases 2011
Just a short thread cataloguing excitement about potential releases. A few rules:
One release per post
If a release isn't confirmed, by all means speculate but be reasonable, give reasons why a release is likely. Links are best but try and give some descrition otherwise
LPs/EPs/whatever cannot have been released/leaked at time of posting
No liking your own posts
My vote is for The Antlers sophomore LP. Not confirmed but likely given that they originally planned it for last year, have played new stuff live and have also stopped touring recently, so may well have been recording.

Hospice is like The Antler's third LP
Although admittedly the first was self-released and the second isn't easy to get hold of. I'm pretty sure they said at End of the Road that they would be recording when they got back from there.
Its probably too late to try and convince you i knew this already.
But I did, honest, stupid error on my part. In The Attic Of The Universe is great plus on iTunes :)
On their twitter they said they were mixing the album last week i think
Hospice is probably the album i've listened to most over the last year and a bit, and they were beautiful live. Only new song i have heard is NYC, which I think is prettyyy pretty good.
Another twitter update
Darby said he had been listening to the new album at 6 a.m. Mixing finished?
LIMP BIZKIT - GOLD COBRA
Grails - Deep Politics
Okkervil River
Esben & The Witch - Violet Cries

I only just realised that it's coming out on the 31st, same day I'm seeing them in Bristol. Looking forward to it.
Earth - Angels of Darkness, Demons of Light 1
http://www.npr.org/blogs/allsongs/2011/01/14/132905509/song-premiere-earth-father-midnight
Out on Feb 7th. The track available to download from that link sounds great, more or less everything Earth have done so far is great, and Dylan Carson's referencing of Pentangle, Fairport Convention and Tiniariwen as influences for this one sounds pretty interesting.
why the blathering fuck can't I pre-order this on amazon???
It gives me two options: the vinyl set which sounds lovely but at 32 quid is out of my price range or 'Angels of Darkness demos' which comes out a week later. what the hell?
I wouldn't bother with Amazon
they're terrible at pre-ordering things anyway. Go to the Southern Records online store, as they're the ones who actually distribute Southern Lord stuff, and order it from there (though it's not up yet). Most of the times I've preordered with them the album's arrived a days early. I got Sunn O)))'s Monoliths and Dimensions about a week early. They distribute loads of other great labels as well (Dischord, Aurora Borealis, Ipecac, Neurot, amongst many others) and it's exceedingly easy to spend over £30 and get free shipping.
thank you!
My bank balance may well hate you though...
I remember reading somewhere that Southern Lord vinyl can tend to be quite 'surface noisy', can anyone confirm/deny this?
Marissa Nadler
Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972
http://stereogum.com/612531/tim-hecker-hatred-of-music-i-stereogum-premiere/mp3s/
Out on Feb 7th, I think
Burzum - Fallen
http://www.plastichead.com/catalogue.asp?ex=fitem&verb=F&target=BYE008CD
Again, out on Feb 7th. Belus was easily as strong as his pre-prison albums, with plenty of interesting new developments, so hopefully Fallen should be good.
first part of our guide just gone up

Heavy focus on bands who have been around a while I thought
I guess its easier to put faith in reliable and consistent bands who've done the business for a few years
oh, hey
apparently next month has both Vivian Girls side/solo project LPs out (The Babies, La Sera). that should be GREAT.
the black ships
Kate Bush
Apparently new material is likely this year, that's enough for me!
Battles - the album without Tyondai
Or maybe it will have him on...he probably recorded a load of doodles with them before he upped and left like a bad daddy.
bright eyes
if noone else's gunna say it
Since the this button isn't working, gonna old school it with at ^This
oh so much, esp after reading the anticipatied records bit about it.
Bon Iver is
hinting at putting something out this year...
Dankryd
and Radiohead.
now that would be a bizarre collaboration.
It's not letting me '^this' things at the moment.
But yay for Peej, Earth and Bon Iver.
yeah, we're working on fixing this. apologies, teething problems with new server configuration.
it's cool
My letter to the Times 'Dear Sir, a website from which I derive regular enjoyment and for which I pay nothing is not currently allowing me to '^this' things, please ban this sick filth, your etc MrScagdenSir' is on hold.
Circle Takes the Square.
It is going to happen. Just keep believing.
I DO BELIVE IN FAIRIES.
The Joy Formidable
Surely? This band are amazing http://www.itsallhappening.co.uk/musicreleases/the-joy-formidable-the-big-roar
Pete & the Pirates
Think I read recently that they'd finished recording it. Been ages since their first one came out.
Wld Beasts - TBA
...addng this based on this recent NME article. http://www.nme.com/news/wild-beasts/54580. Although there is no actual confirmation of release from the band itself n these snippets. Anone read the whole article?
They confirmed they had a new album coming out when they played at ATP in December. They said they'd planned on playing new material, but they weren't 'allowed to' (whatever that means) & played a new non-album track instead.
Anyway, I have a good feeling about this one.
it'll be more electronic apparently...
inspired by oneohtrix pointnever and junior boys according to the article, but will continue the epic soundscape mould of two dancers... sounds pretty exciting
That does sound awesome
The JBs remix of The Fun Powder Plot was terrific. If they go down that route, I'll be happy.
I always like it when bands cite contemporary influences
Reminds me of when I read about McCartney being bowled over by Pet Sounds. Too many bands name drop King Crimson/Talking Heads etc to garner extra credibility
Panda Bear
And Fleet Foxes
Are the main two amongst many.
Cementimental
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNlopmtNwjM
New real estate
Ducktails already out
Bibio's new one
Tellison
Album of the year. You heard it here first.
To paraphrase what Will Self once said of a Richard Littlejohn novel
have they turned into The Beatles since the release of their last album then?
Richard Littlejohn's written a novel?
Sweet Jesse James and his orchestra of llamas. Please tell me nobody bought it?
Hot Water Music and Small Brown Bike by year's end, possibly.
Jeniferever - Silesia
Out in March, here's the first song from it.
http://soundcloud.com/monotreme-records/jeniferever-waifs-strays
High Llamas have an album out in April.
A little curious by the fact that it has been mixed by Tim Gane.
Aren't the Wrens meant to be releasing something this year?
If so then that
Architecture in Helsinki!
part 2 of our guide, featuring the 11 i'm looking forward to

Bat for Lashes
with Beck is hugely exciting. I loved Lets Get Lost
Big Boi - Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader
He says he's 5 or 6 songs into the 10 song album & wants to get it out by the end of the year, after Andre 3000s album drops (which makes that one of my most anticipated too). As for Dre & Big Boi collabos:
“[Andre] on the Daddy Fat Sax album? Hopefully, if Jive lets it happen. But I’m definitely going to be on his next record."
Fingers crossed it doesn't face the same kind of release problems as Sir Lucious Left Foot
