Horrible news. Get well soon.
really really hope she pulls through.
This is sad news.
fingers crossed :(
:( best wishes to her.
I love her! Hope she gets better!
Fingers / arms / legs / eyelashes crossed. x
I hope she pulls through x
i've been monitoring a few places since this morning, seemed the report of the death was on the Facebook page, from the same person who broke the news claiming to be her sister. there's apparently some doubt over the authenticity of the poster though.
the last few minutes suddenly it's in other places. is it all coming from that facebook post?
Can't see anything else, though.
have said it's true.
says it's not a rumour.
I adore that band.
This is terrible news, what a great band and an iconic singer :(
Absolutely terrible news.
really really sad news. Way way before her time :(
RIP, thoughts go out to all the friends and family.
That's absolutely gutting. I'm so sorry.
One of the reasons I was so excited about Primavera was due to - despite having loved the band for several years - never getting to hear her wonderful voice in the flesh. Now I guess I never will.
I'm so sorry for all that were close to her.
This one is going to hurt. Makes me even more angry that people use the word pneumonia when they have a mere cold...
One of the most inventive British music artists of our generation.
Listening to Tears in the Typing Pool and feeling quite emotional.
One of the most beautiful voices i've ever heard, and the band were as mentioned, one of the most inventive British groups of the last 10/15 years.
Gone way, way before her time. Thoughts are with her family and friends.x
so sad and frightening, and I'm disappointed I won't get to see her at Primavera. I was really looking forward to it as I haven't seen them for years.
She'll be sorely missed. R.I.P.
I was only listening to them yesterday and this morning was about to put them on but thought i'd be playing them too much.
One of my big regrets from my time at uni in Nottingham was missing them play The Social in 2000. Never did get to see them, but their records and Trish's stunning voice will certainly leave a lasting and fitting legacy.
actually really awful.
An amazing voice and made some of the greatest records I've ever heard. A really special talent.
you will be missed
Just shocked to be honest. She will be missed.
My favorite female singer is gone. This is horrible. My thoughts go out to her family and bandmates.
Only got into them last christmas when the gf bought me one of their records, what a gorgeous voice.
The Noise Made By People is a great album.
and a heap of videos which may act as way of an introduction to their music up on our tumblr http://drownedinsoundcloud.com/
i'm really shocked and saddened by this news. broadcast were a massive gateway band for me into both independent and electronic music, and really fuelled my hunger and passion for uncovering music.
They really remind me of a time when I bought music on the strength of how awesome a cover was. Or when a band would put as much effort into a 4 track E.P as they would an 11 song album.
Anyone reading this thread who hasn't listened to them before really ought to check them out. They're a massively brilliant band.
I only got to see them once. At ATP Matt Groening in May. Listened to them on and off for the past 8 years and always loved what i was listening to.
I remember thinking at ATP how amazing they were, how angelic she was and how spellbound i was by their performance.
My thoughts go out to the band and her family. She will be sorely missed.
Just purely creatively, Broadcast were on fire recently - they were never anything less than great but the newer things were breaking new ground (in their hazy retro way) and promising so much for the future.
On a personal level it must be horrendous to lose someone so young, I never met her but a few friends had and she sounded like a really down to earth great person. Anyone that can write "Come On Let's Go" must be an incredible old soul.
An enormous loss.
very much this^
investigate witch cults... and especially the 'familiar shapes and noises' 12" on ghost box from last summer, really make up some of my favourite music of their career. so sad to have those new avenues of exploration cut short.
7" in fact. i've got it on (legal) mp3 tbh.
but obviously those feelings of a listener are an aside to the huge personal tragedy and the loss of her family/friends. just sad and shocking any way you look at it.
Truly awful news. RIP
I heard yesterday she was in a bad way but to finish work and hear this is truly devastating, haven't listened to them in a long while but now, I feel as if to cherish her talent and memories by drowning my self in her songs for the next week. R.I.P.
Broadcast are/were pioneers of the whole 'hauntology' scene, its awful that music loses someone so significant in some of the most important stuff to be happening right now.
Terribly sad news.
Can't add much but echo all the tributes that have been placed here. One of my favourite bands, one of my favourite singers. The music world, the world in general, will be a worse place with her absence.
What a pointless, wasteful death. Horrible news. x
The music of Broadcast has been a huge inspiration since I first heard Haha Sound, and they were always heading into new territory. Best wishes to her family in this horrible time of loss. I would be lying to say I wasn't shaken by this news.
another talented musician taken from us at such a young age. I heard they had been working on a new album as well. I think i'll listen to the noise made by people tonight and bask in the wonder of her dulcet tones. Good bye and god bless x
I remember my mate telling me to go see them years ago, he'd seen them support Stereolab, and was blown away. I then searched shops in Brighton for Work and Non Work and had to order it from Edgeworld. Seeing them at Duke of York Cinema was special. Last year Mark Linkous and now Trish....2 of my favourite artists...gutting
Broadcast were unique...deepest sympathy to her loved ones. Her music touched so many people - she won't be forgotten.
