I'm trying to remember the name of an album. I need it as a reference for some work I'm doing. I know one of you will definitely know it as I'm sure it's been mentioned on here before.
It's a pretty straight-up rock album. I seem to remember the singer having a gritty-ish voice and the songs being quite long. It was also definitely released under the name of a band although it might have been one of those 'release it as the band but really it's just the one guy' type of deals. I can only remember two points of note:
1. The album was written as a soundtrack for a film that was never made. (Or a film that was invented by the musician - I forget.)
2. It was extremely 'film-noir' in tone. And was possibly something to do with Los Angeles (although that might just be the association with Hollywood film-noir playing tricks on my memory.)
Any ideas? All help appreciated as googling has yielded fuck-all.
