does Big Boi have a good live reputation, I dunno. Pleased to see him on the line up anyhow.

OF ALL TIME.
Doubt I'll go to this ATP, but would be keen to check out any of their own shows they most likely will do around that time
Not sure if they ever officially broke up, but haven't done much in a long, long while & even turned down the chance to play the Matador @ 21 Fest I recall hearing. Really hoping for some shows outside of ATP fest. Last saw them live back in '94 (judging by the review I just found on the web) when the Sausage Machine was putting on gigs at that pub behind Euston Station.
I think they were on 'indefinite hiatus' or something.
Hopefully most of these are going to play Primavera too.
I hope it doesn't sell out.
I daren't look them up at work...
they used to be really cool: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHLdyRQdkcs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejdefRIOsho
but now they've gone a bit boring/occasionally alright http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pT2_G6Dov0U
'Cheaters' is a monstrous bit of pastiche and sickeningly good bit of sampling. Hyperbole what?
they're good. i just have a bee in my bonnet that they're not sampling raymond scott anymore.
i do think the collision between people sincerely making house with odd lo-fi little equipment and ideas is more interesting than fairly faithful genre pastiche tho. that's a little played-out in 2010 when everyone has some the same go at 'authenticity' or what-have-you.
the former is dogshit live, and latter is something i listened to when i was about 15 or 16, totally spazzy noise, right?
need to check them all out i guess, or i'll be spending a hell of a lot of time in pizza hut/splash world.
Big Boi sounds like it could be a laugh live
*Probably* not going personally (save money; seen a lot of the initially-announced lineup; etc) but I'd be very happy to be going. Following on from Godspeed continues a good stretch.
might get some tickets soon. Somehow never heard Thinking Fellers. Eric Copeland is mint. That is all.
'mother of all saints' is probably their best.
sweet i'm going to check it out. Legally!
so i shall have to artifically add it:
TERRY RILEY! WOOO! YEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!
MICK BARR (solo
but hoping for a few more well known names because I'm out of my OMG, they're so obscure phase. Touring around the time are Parts & Labor, Slow Club, Explosions in the Sky, Tallest Man On Earth, The Dodos, Cold War Kids, Grant Lee Buffalo, Das Racist, Josh T Pearson, Little Dragon and Twin Shadow. I would expect a few more that are playing Primavera to be added, and maybe some from the Great Escape. Am I being wildly optimistic and/or narrow minded?
why would animal collective. not that i'm saying they're bad (altho coincidentally i do think that - josh t. pearson excluded)
but even if i liked any of those people, surely the idea of atp is it's all about a band that you like making you a kind of live mixtape, or to put it in a less trite way, pick bands they like, are influenced by, or have some kind of sonic similarities with, not just a whole heap of completely random unconnected indie bands that happen to be touring around the same time...
that's what every single other festival is for, isn't it?
why would animal collective pick any of those bands* that first line should say.
And given this is the most eclectic and interesting line up ATP has had in ages, I'm getting a bit fed up of people moaning about it.
and I have heard of Slow Club, Tallest Man On Earth, Grant Lee Buffalo, Little Dragon and Twin Shadow.
Gang Gang Dance are very high on the poster and do put on a good show, but can they carry off a show in the pavilion? I'd rather see them in centre stage. I'm sure I'll have a good weekend anyway but apart from cramming on spotify, I know nothing about a lot of the acts. The last ATP I went to was The Breeders, lots of big draws there, hence lots of fun. Can't see that Animal Collective are giving vfm at the moment!
who would almost certainly hate you and prefer it if you stopped listening to their music
are you sure you understand life?
can any of us really say we do ¯\(°_°)/¯
i'd watch that
Fortunately that isn't the only good album by them, albeit it is probably the best.
I'm still hoping for a third Mick Barr set with Krallice.
but i think they're working on a new set
