Anyone got it? It's lurking around on a mediafire link i think. It's really, really great.
it's very good. Not as good as Skyramps or the latest Emeralds album though.
I just think this is pretty raw/a little more vital sounding. Especially the last track "Brothers (for Matt)". It's huge.
It's got that lovely Emeraldsy feel to it, but sounds quite different too. Really warm tones.
and I wasn't crazy about the last Emeralds album. Brain Storm (for Erin) and, as you say, Brothers (for Matt) are gorgeous. I think Tidings/Amethyst Waves is probably better though.
Could have saved yourself the trouble...
Does make me want to hit someone.
Good luck with that
i say that just because it's just an odd line. most recently released, widely-covered music is going to be 'lurking around on a mediafire link'.
maybe its just a strange turn of phrase idk.
*saviour of the music industry*
joint with Emeralds. The two are inseperable for me. It's like the skeleton underneath the noise. Day to Emeralds Night, the Earth against their Cosmic, warm emotion where Emeralds is slighter colder, more Human where the synths removes it. And that huge stadium sized finish. Amazing.
I think of the Emeralds record as reaching out (to the cosmos I guess in an old fashioned 'kosmiche/psych' way) and the McGuire one as reaching inwards (to his past, childhood, psyche etc).
He does one of my favourite things as a guitarist, create personality and melody without resorting to 'lead guitar' histronics.
is epic stuff. On a great album too, one of those moments where everything just went sublime when the drums etc kick in after all the delay and loops. Perfect headphone music. Also probably worth buying rather than downloading too, its only what 5 - 6 quid.
are working on a record together. Forthcoming on Bark and Hiss records. Can't wait for this I must say.
Kind of mixes all the best bits from TB, Emeralds and Marks solo stuff. G'wan be hot.
That sounds amazing!
This will be too good.
too good for a link
is John Elliot's Outer Space lp under that same name. kind of kosmische, wavey synth-music but with a bit more balls and intensity and less of a ambient/new-agey feel than other records of this ilk.
i put critique of the beautiful on today for the first time in ages and its still real good
Might d/l it.
(and then buying it, brightonb)
Thanks for the heads up :)
albeit previously released recordings from cassettes/ CDRs etc
it is very fucking dreamy. i love the bit with the kids talking about presents. awesome.
