it's good to see

Mr Virgo, TRC, Bassboy and DJ Q showing that their is some real quality to come from the bassline scene. Being from Sheffield, it's hard to escape it, but it doesn't translate around the country, it comes across as too simplistic and is hindered by the fact that it's impossible to spit over without sounding stupid. The top producers are now moving onto grime and are making some of the most exciting instrumentals I've heard towards the latter end of this year. Mr V's Home Alone instrumental is astounding, as is DJ Q's Woo rmx, my personal favourite of any of the re-fixs.

Also Goodz chose bait beats everyone had heard a million times before, boring!

  Giggs appearance on the mixtape is a personal treat even though he phones it in, my grime dream-team is for them fellas to do an album together, in a UK Jay-Z - Kanye stylee but with them guys more style and humour like Morecambe & Wise, arf!
  
  Wiley's tunes are so far from the grime sound now, it's almost like he's abandoned it - record, mixtape and everything he's done for a year or so. More UK hip hop I reckon.

I had barely listened to any grime ever until a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. I know absolutely nothing about it though and have no idea where to go from here, are there any good reads on the subject in terms of background and generally accepted 'best' albums?

Getting it tomorrow, excited for that. He also went to the Butterz night last week and said it was fucking amazing, it was his first proper clubnight and he came back with a photo of him and Trim and said he'd met pretty much everyone so he was fucking stoked haha.
