Although occasionally He Thought Of Cars rivals its magic....
as their most well known song.
Probably one of their worst 'well-known' songs.
For Tomorrow ftw.
Great song that. I think No Distance Left To Run might be my favourite Blur song though.
i was just listening to 'fools gold' for the first time in months, and y'know what? it's really rather good, isn't it?
*fools day. the blur record day song.
fools gold would be completely unrelated.
I remember hearing Albarn/James moaning about how they got pushed into having backward drums on There's No Other Way so it was fashionable with the baggy thing at the time, so Fools Gold isn't entirely unrelated. Don't know why they moaned though, sounds good. Though I don't know why they didn't have the final say in the matter.
The whole post was a mess tbh.
I like 'There's No Other Way', especially live, but there are many Blur singles, album tracks & even a few B-sides that outshine it.
and that album is about 2/3rds fucking rubbish
Even after what British Gas have done to it.
cos I grew up with them and played them to death, so I'm pretty bored of them and think its all a bit shit/over rated for at least another 5 years... I can prob listen to Death of a Party, Music Is My Radar and Bugman, plus the Cornelius remix of Tender and Alex's Bugman remix and thats about it, so they're the best by deafult.
Thought I might be uncovering a missed gem, didn't enjoy it at all. :(
not sure why maybe it was to many lamacq live sessions as a kid. The remix would be a load better if it left out the Blur vocals, but that would prob just make it a Cornelius tune.
This is actually my favourite Blur song
sounds like The Rapture
I remember some idiotic clip from Glastonbury when The Rapture played with Bez doing cowbells and said something dumb like "yeeeah madchester meets new york" and I instantly went "this is Bugman?" oh wait. I still like House of Jealous Lovers though
After all it was just something they came up with to please the record company who wanted something to cash in with the baggy sound.
after that though i have a hard time picking second best
and Battle. Wowz.
you know this to be true! :P
We know this, right?
end of thread
or Sweet Song, or Death of a party.
probably for the 1st time in around 10 years. Not how I remembered it at all. Great stuff.
though There's No Other Way is up there. Oh and I like Ambulance too, yeah.
*Not that massive a Blur fan really*
...but I like the cut of your jib
(I'd probably go with 'The Universal', 'Death of a Party', 'Best Days' or 'End of a Century' for best song, though.)
Death of a Party is a great shout
