Wow. Good gig. Nightmarish drive home though. Any Dissers there?
Thankfully they got the sound problems sorted after the first song or two, the rest of the show was very impressive, great night.
getting caught in the blizzard while trying to hail a taxi afterwards wasn't great though. Phosphorescent were excellent, too.
Not to keen on the academy as a venue and was practically getting crushed to death down near the front so had to move quite a fair bit back which restricted my view somewhat but actually gave me some breathing space. Got a real surprise later though when i could'nt see what was going on but heard some massive cheers from the audience then about a minute later matt berninger is standing right next to me belting out 'mr november'. They are a fantastic live band and their set was flawless, am just disappointed they don't play 'karen'??? Thats twice i've seen them now and they never played it either time. Whats up with that?
I was standing on the first level up, just in front of the sound desk, just beside where he climbed up during Mr November (which was AWESOME). The bit at the end where they did Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks completely unplugged was lovely as well :)
Saying that, it wasn't until matt's crowd antics that I felt they really got fired up. All I really knew before the gig was Alligator, so I was a little disappointed not to hear much off it but I'll be listening to the rest after the other night
I'm quite excited. Has anyone got approximate stage times? I'd quite like to catch Menomena too.
Brixton kicks out at 11. They'll be 9 - 10:30. They're not doing 2 hour sets are they?
it was (roughly) 9:15-10:50 (including encore).
I wouldn't be that sorry if it finished a little earlier, I'm steeling myself for a battle against the tube strike and the last train leaves waterloo at 12
and yes, a nightmare drive back through a blizzard to West Lothian!
It was a brilliant performance with some great lighting and visuals too.
Like the other poster I was standing in front of the mixing desk when Berninger appeared through the crowd. Seemed like he managed it without even missing a note !
