just listening on 6 music and do not remember some of these tracks off screamadelica.
I imagine the gig was sublime.
£35 (thirty five pounds)
I didn't listen to the 6 Music show as I'm going tonight so didn't want it spoiled (ie: no surprises). Was the entire set broadcast? They play a 'greatest hits' set first, then come back on later after a Weatherall DJ interlude to play all of Screamadelica but not in order. From what I've read they morph the two versions of both Higher Than The Sun and a finale of Come Together.
£35? Well worth it.....but then Screamadelica is one of my most cherished albums so I'm biased.
this thread then
but got tickets anyway. It's only now that I'm really looking forward to it. I don't see it as wallowing in nostalgia though. Their sets over the years have always included the older tracks anyway, like Loaded, Higher Than The Sun, Movin On Up. Songs like Slip Inside This House aren't a straight copy of the Screamadelica vesion anyway as a sneaky listen to the 6music broadcast shows it having a great fuzz guitar line throughout like the Elevators original. Higher Than The Sun was always extended live and morphed into various songs. Nostalgia maybe, but with an eye in the now. To go along (or not to) expecting it to be the same as 19 years ago, with the same drug buzz, is just sad. It's still a great album today so why not celebrate it at an amazing night? Can't wait!
is only a bad thing. Totally agree, love the old and new, healthy balance is a good thing. I'm late 30's and I really hope the venue isn't full of people my age, or older, off their heads on pills or plant food in a bid to relive their glory days. Cheers, will have a wicked one (I hope)!
..especially Damaged, it's going to be emotional.
