Who was the pillock in the hat on stage? I hated him and his face.
Of Television Personalities. He hijacked the show quite spectacularly.
Fucking amazing show though, I got tickets off the back of their live reputation as the album hadn't quite clicked for me but christ they were good. What an absolutely lovely frontman as well
but yeah he well overstayed his welcome eh?
but nuff respect to Titus Andronicus for dealing with it in the best possible way and putting on an amazing show regardless.
Also that guy in the white T shirt was jokes. I'm not sure he knew the lyrics to the song he was invited onstage for :D
were you one of them?
i hate you if so.
He was still annoying as fuck though,
Don't understand why people like this band. Someone explain?
The Dropkick Murphy's?
and it's even worse than the stuff he did as Bright Eyes.
they played the main stage to about 20 people, most of whom were kids taking the piss out of him.
Televsion Personalities were such a great band too.
'well titus handled it as best they could'
were they not the guys who invited him on stage?
genuine question, i wasn't there
dan treacy came out uninvited and sort of mumbled...'well, i'll play a song if you fancy it?'
titus were charming as fuck and, 'hey why not'
so after some dicking around from dan, they finally get into a blistering cover of 'roadrunner'....titus really pulling it out the bag.
then, not having an ounce of self-awareness...treacy stays on and steals a guitar. titus man is trying to be polite as possible and says, 'hey dan, we better be wrapping it up now buddy'...but he goes into another song regardless. again, titus rescue a possibly awkward situation by being completely affable and charming and again, they manage to pull a decent song from the steaming dump that treacy was taking on stage.
then treacy mumbled something about titus soon being 'regulars at glastonbury' and quoted bob dylan before finally leaving. there were also some annoying as fuck girls who were dancing like it was 1964 and they'd just sucked off mick n' keef backstage.
treacy is just a pathetic fucking idiot basically. but titus handled it all so well, you couldn't help but be impressed.
i felt sorry for patrick stickles. apparantly television personalities are one of his biggest influences.
don't meet your heroes, and all that.
seem like good folk. and what a noise, yes sir.
LOOK AT US WE'RE ONSTAGE AT A FUCKING GIG DOING RUBBISH DANCING LOOK AS US
totally agree about Titus Andronicus though, they're clearly lovely guys. Always nice to discover a band you really rate are also really nice.
it certainly didn't ruin the night, but it was anoying as fuck.
it was a bit like being in a cinema and suddenly getting hit with a particularly annoying advert two thirds of the way through the film...GET BACK TO THE FUCKING FILM, I WAS BLOODY ENJOYING THAT YOU PRICKS.
at Primavera this year he was staying in the same hostel as us. he was seen pretty much everywhere at the festival in fact, watching bands and chatting to fans all weekend
that sounds a bit rubbish. Good on Titus though.
Dickish attention seeking pricks.
TWICE in the crowd before Titus started. Not politely, either.
It was getting rowdy(ish) at the front of the crowd and the lovely frontman said his bit about making sure that your having fun doesn't spoil someone else's having fun.
Aging embarrassing punk looks on from the side of the stage disapprovingly. "This is nothing compared to what it was in my day" he thinks, "I'll go on and show them how it's done"
Upon arrival on-stage he tells the band that "These kids just love you" or alternatively "It's not very punk to ask them to calm down" then mistakenly thinking he is still in any way relevant to anyone at the show decides to comandeer a mic and guitar and roll back the years to the "good old days".
He fails but the confused Titus Andronicus are utterly charming and patient and somehow manage to make the whole scenario not be the utter car crash it should have been.
so much fucking energy from all members! even when treacy came on nice touch letting the old git do one more. The jeff bit was quite cool too but then those shitty girls came on trying to look like they were on the catwalk fucking ruined it! Highlight during 'titus andronicus' when patrick gave each member their own solo bit then launched back into "THE ENEMY IS EVERYWHERE"
i thought they were friends/girlfriends of Titus. at least that Jeff dude was invited onto the stage, even if he did look a bit of a tit jigging around seemingly not knowing the words :P
Also: stagedivers/crowdsurfers who repeatedly get back up and jump up again can fuck right off. twats.
but repeat stagediving offenders are the worst, once is enough for anyone!
it was bad enough having to hear his awful band beforehand, but then to have him come out desperate for some of the attention and deny us more titus songs ( i would have liked to hear theme from 'cheers' which i assume they would have otherwise played) was pretty infuriating.
still the band were great and there was a pretty fun atmosphere.
They were amazing at CAMP earlier in the year though. Which show was better to those who went to both? I'm looking at you guntrip.
When I saw Black Lips a couple of weeks ago there were 'nuff girls fannying about on stage doing their shit dancing as well. They really bloody annoy me.
tough call though - both great shows :D
but CAMP was the better of the two. smaller venue, sweaty basement vibes, less student pillocks in ski boots, no crazy King's Cross street drinkers pretending to be the main guy in an important 80s indie band.
Camp was better, but a close call.
