Anyone else go, quite underwhelmed if I am being honest, not entirely convinced she wasn't miming too. Thoughts people?
I think the mic was on but it did sound like there were prerecorded vocals as well.
I don't mind the rapping on the album but considering that he does actually struggle to rap it didn't work live.
The guitar was quite good, and about the only thing that sounded different to their recorded stuff. Frost, King Night and a couple of other tracks sounded pretty decent. I think the most impressive thing about the show was the setting of the church. I found it more interesting than the ridiculously pretentious short film, aqua-crunk laptop support DJ and daddy-doesn't-love-me girl who got up to dance.
then apply effects to it live, or he raps/speaks in real-time but with the mic plugged into whoever's laptop where they alter his voice to make him sound good, and play it out to the speakers. obviously it wouldn't then work if this was out-of-time with him rapping. so just have him standing in the corner rapping.
is this possible? why have they not done it? i should form a band.
do you think the DJ knew her?
The rapping was that of a smacked up Jay (of Jay and Silent Bob fame) having listened to a few cLOUDDEAD tracks.
but just leaving them raw didn't sound right to me.
I hope the DJ didn't know the dancing girl. If that was part of their act they should only be allowed to perform on the street at the Edinburgh festival.
Salem before but Becoming Real is great live, if he was anything short of brill than was just a bad gig!
Sitting in a cold church with most people waiting to see what Salem would be like meant I wasn't getting that into a Laptop set of what sounded like second-rate Zomby tracks.
Raw vocals does sound a little odd... surely the whole slowed-down & screw'd-up effect is a pretty crucial element of their whole 'thing'?
