I've recently gotten into a bit of Tom Waits, having found him impenetrable for years.
However, I only like his ballads. Y'know, like Martha, Kentucky Avenue... that sort of thing. Just him at a piano playing some beautiful music. None of that experimental Rain Dogs stuff or that bar-room jazz nonsense.
So. What ARE the best ballads that Waits has written? If anyone could help me compile a list so that I don't have to sit through lots of raspy lounge-jazz to find them, that'd help me a lot...
