posters weren't shit I'd describe Trout Mask Replica as the aural equivalent. On first view it's completely impenetrable, stare at it awhile and you've got a nice 3D schooner.

I had exactly the same reaction to Ornette Coleman and the net result is the same - one of my favourites.
