do another show over here before their MK Bowl appearance with The Foos?
Like in Laandan or something?
at Brixton and some European gigs or something. Can't see them doing a massive tour around it.
but gibbard has said they won't be doing much touring around it. you'd still expect them to do one uk tour hitting the big cities at some point next year mind
theres an interview knockin about where he says he doesnt want to tour like they have done previously.
since when did death cab get si big anyway? i brought this up in a thread a while back and noone provided an answer, i saw um twice when the photo album was released once to about 15 people in the night and day cafe in manc and then again to about 50 people in the academy 3 . since then they havnt had any big singles/radio play over here, how the hell did they get so popular?? and to make it even more astounding their music has got progressivly shit imo
and were mentioned in numerous episodes of The OC. Which was pretty massive, especially with teenage girls.
it they are so well respected/liked by what seems like everyone but teenage girls? i doubt their gigs are full to the brim of teenage girls, more likley rucksack, glasses , jumper wearing blokes with designer stubble/ beards
when I went about four years ago, there were a load of teenage girls. Last time, about two years ago, there were just your generic indie types. The OC made them famous, but they're still a big indie band. I guess it's because they're awesome. They've not really got progressively shit, The Photo Album is the peak but Narrow Stairs is WAY better than Something About Airplanes.
or Pictures In An Exhibition on it, which makes Something About Airplanes awesome by default.
was before photo album wasnt it? its the one with the blue cover and the tracing paper in it with the little hole cut out? anyway im not up on my death cab, i aint been to see them since the shows i mentioned above so i cant really comment on the demographic of the audience or the order of the albums i can just make assumtions . i just dont understand their popularity is all
and surely miss squirrel meant plans, not airplanes. in which csae she is spot on
(a) The Postal Service
(b) Relentlessly touring for several years
(c) Yes, The OC
(d) Signing to the biggest music company in the world at a time when indie bands don't do that sort of thing, and actually thriving and not getting dropped like most of their contemporaries.
forgot about the Postal Service.
I think the catalyst moment may have occurred on 6 Feet Under.
They'll be contractually obliged not to announce any headline dates in the UK, at least until the Foo Fighters show/s are sold out. They never seem to do lengthy tours over here anyway, only a handful of gigs at a time.
good news then.
I probably got into them a year or two too late really.
