Interested to hear how it was - particularly Polvo.
Polvo's was probably the least impressive set, but then I'm not too much of a fan of their stuff. They were still good though. Every other band were amazing. Difficult to pick highlights, as it was all great, but Liquid Liquid were way better than I was expecting, and went down a storm.
The only downside was how sparse the audience was - the place can't have been more than one-third full. The audience that was there was very enthusiastic - though it had thinned out even more by the time The Field took the stage. I guess ATP must've lost a lot of money on the evening, which is shame as they put a brilliant line-up together.
mainly due to a very poor mix (too much vocals and drums, too little guitars).
Tweak Bird were even better than on record, Factory Floor have (surprisingly) gone a lot more electronic since I last saw them, Beak> were OK-ish (a bit dull) and Liquid Liquid were the highlight of the evening, great fun and the band seemed genuinely pleased with the crowd's ecstatic reception. Didn't wait around for The Field (reports are variable).
Poorly attended, with the balcony closed and the ground floor never more than half full. Very few people had bothered to dress up.
and would definitely agree that the sound for Polvo was bad. My highlight was Beak>, although after the volume of Factory Floor they seemed very quiet.
But damn it was empty, I find it a bit depressing when there are so few people in a venue of that size, and maybe that affected my enjoyment.
because the four or five band night ought to be a real joy (and comparative good value), so would be a shame for these things to happen less.
would have liked to have gone, but not if it finishes that late. Maybe for next time, try to start/finish ealier?
Same time as a normal club, and Liquid Liquid and The Field are more suited to late night dancing fun.
Both of whom were excellent but it was indeed very empty (there was about 30 people left by the end of The Field's set). I saw hardly anyone in fancy dress, so whoever did has a very good chance of winning the prize. I was very drunk.
don't know what went on there. I guess people had gone to Hallowe'en parties already so didn't really fancy it again - I thought it was a pretty strong lineup.
Liquid Liquid were fantastic, and I really enjoyed BEAK> as well.
even collectively, the bands weren't big/popular enough to sell out the Forum.
amazing lineup, and although it wasnt busy, it made it so much better and easier to move around, sound and sightlines were top notch. honestly think Liquid Liquid were better than battles could have been.
and I never waited at the bar (this is probably not such a good in the long run, mind)
Tweak Bird (6/10), Factory Floor (8/10), Beak (4/10 - too muddy and not precise enough compared to when I've seen them in the past), Polvo (5/10 - vocals too loud) Liquid Liquid (9/10) and The Field (10/10).
Shame about the crowd size. When Battles pulled out and were replaced by Liquid Liquid, it instantly became more attractive to me, but I think that it probably hit the tickets sales overall.
One to me anyway.
Weird night. Enjoyed Beak> and Polvo. Was really empty in there - zero atmosphere.
I hope I wasn't too embarrassing. It's nice to know there are a few head-cases as mad as me.
I really enjoyed the other bands, though Polvo a bit less; but I don't really know them to be fair.
The Field were absolutely fantastic. Great way to finish (for the people left, at least)
I like vocals. Vocals are good. They are a little lacking in stage charisma though, aren't they. The Field were hit and miss, although increasingly hit as the set progressed. Some of the live elements didn't work at all. The turnout was disappointing, but not really surprising - I don't think any of the bands are a particularly big draw. Still enough people there to make for a fun evening though.
