looking forward to this.... not having seen merzbow before i'm expecting my head to implode.
Let's hope for implosions, he was pretty amazing last time I saw but I haven't heard Balázs Pándi and collaborations can be hit and miss sometimes... but YEAH i'm sure it's gonna be great.
Insane month for noise, the LAFMS fest was astonishing and also KK Null is playing on thurs (don't know if i will be there for that tho)
I've seen Nadja before (good), but I'm hoping for something more active from Merzbow.
are there still tickets for this?
let me check mr bank balance.
Decent set, I'm not sure Balázs Pándi brought a whole lot to it.
What was going on with Nadja's sound cutting out all the time?
although obviously nadja's was a bit of a blow-out...though they sounded good when they got going albeit intermittently. Anyone know what the band before nadja was called?
XOYO as a venue seemed pretty shite. It was going for some faux-basement vibe and beers about over £4...
I mean it was twice as loud as the acts, amazing heavy bass but just stupid in the context.
the DJ seemed almost happy when Nadja's set crapped out so he could resume sampling his CD collection. I think most venues play the house music overly loud...I personally prefer a sonic breather between sets.
the bass rumble was huge, I was thinking that when the bands were playing it was going to be tough to cope with but then they weren't even as loud as the house music. Agree with other comment that it's good to have a volume break between sets.
it would have sounded pretty good at that volume :)
ratting whatever loose connection was making that massive 'pop', it sounded great and more interesting than their music :)
Messaged the DJ Tim on behalf of you :)
I seriously wish I'd have just politely mentioned it to him in person, I mean I'm not one to want people to turn things down as you can imagine, but it was a bit much!
Was I didn't really expect him collaborating with a drummer to sound anything other than some drumming and some slightly half-baked Merzbow happening at the same time and sounding nice but not really gelling together or going anywhere...
really I think I just don't really understand the whole notion of adding drums to noise. A good noise artist has any sound a drumkit can make x 9000 at their disposal.
If you ever tell me to turn it down I know somethings going on
