Any good? Still relevant in 2010? Discuss..
Beyond and Farm are equal to any of their other albums. Better than anything since You're Living All Over me I'd say.
Relevant I'm not sure about. They were always fairly anachronistic even in the 80s underground scene with the classic rock influences and guitar solos.
they just keep rocking.
J Mascis' voice is pure marmite - I'd have been into them in a major way if it wasn't for his voice!
i love it
great band! easily the best of any of the recent DLB 'comeback' bands
Beyond and Farm are stellar albums
You're Living All Over Me and BUg are classics - Beyond was amazing, though I have to say that I wasn't especially keen on Farm. I'm not really sure what 'relevance' in regards to music really means.
Farm was a great album.
Blew my ears out forever, it was awesome.
for far too long. Surely he's lost his hearing.
than a simple wall, when I saw 'em earlier this year. :-)
I did the first song with no ear protection, just to see (hear), ended up being a mistake.
but it also meant the sound mix was pretty bad, so I repositioned somewhere more central after revisiting the bar.
1. yep very good
2. probably not, but they've never tried to be cutting edge. live they're superb and put a lot of bands to shame. J has to be up there as one of the Top 50 guitarists of all time.
Why don't people just listen to music anymore?
MOAN MOAN MOAN.
Anyway. Yes, they are good. Very very good. And still churning out great music.
is a great great album, I'm actually bigger on their more recent stuff than the old 'classics', but then again I started with Beyond.. Never did get round to sending my 'too loud' copy of Farm back... just thought it was meant to be that way.
"Never did get round to sending my 'too loud' copy of Farm back... just thought it was meant to be that way"
I bet there are some fans who claim they prefer the 'too loud' version. I sent mine back but never received the promised free download tracks as compensation.
They're relevant in as much as at their gigs, amongst the middle-aged blokes like me, there's always plenty of kids who will hear them and go and form brilliant guitar based bands, and so continue the great rock'n'roll tradition. Maybe.
it really distorts.. I'm just lazy.. Nice of them to offer replacements though. If only Metallica had offered to do the same for Death Magnetic (insert new metallica bad, old good pun here)
because they still blow audiences away.
And yes they're great.
I saw them live once at the last day of a festival; they were a massive energy rush, they blew all the spiderwebs that had gathered in my brains right out. I felt extremely up for the rest of the night after that gig.
I don't completely know what you mean by relevant, as i would imagine most awesome music is relevant one way or another.
Still think I should have gone to see them instead of Pavement on their respective reunion tours
