Primavera 2011
On the 19th of October at around 5pm the first ten bands of the line-up of the eleventh edition of the San Miguel Primavera Sound, which will take place next year in the Parc del Fòrum (26th, 27th and 28th May) and in the Poble Espanyol (25th and 29th May), will be announced. The members of the festival forum have chosen these first ten artists through a survey.
So now you know....

Tickets go on sale on Tuesday as welll
I got my ticket already
I'm excited
but also wish I'd done the survey.....
The National are playing apparently. Not too high up hopefully.
surveyyyy?
Yep, think the National are pretty much
nailed on for this and expect them to be 1 of the 10.
yes plz
i'm so excited
i know another one of the bands playing
they're a spanish slowcore band. forget the name. have the singer on last.fm. they're quite good.
NEWS!
SCOOP!
D'ya think Shellac are going to return again?
What would it be? The fourth time?
Sonic youth always play the odd numbered years.
Odds on
Shellac and Fuck Buttons consecutively returning and Sonic Youth playing their second time in three years don't look too good now that I think about it
Blimey
Deerhunter obv.
I'm living in Toulouse this year, its a few hours on the train to Barcelona
gonna go hopefully. Went in 2009 and it was unbelievably good.
headed for a three-peat
need to find a new foreign festival as well as though
Literally can't wait..
always the best line up, unless i'm hideously overlooking some other gem of a festival?
Bowie for 2011
you heard it here first
According to Seetickets
They go on sale at 6 o'clock this evening...
Yep, same time 'ish' as the announcement basically.
You got me a ticket for this, right?
:)
I'd like one though. I think I need to break my Primavera 'duck'.
Dan Melchior und Das Menace

Broadcast and Ariel Pink I like...not too familiar with the rest.
Interesting list!
were they only given a smallish amount to choose from?
to be honest I don't know, I just picked this up in the 2011 thread
I imagine that the list was from a restricted amount of bands because it doesn't look anything like an ATP vs Fans list.
Has anybody got the full translated message?
Someone on the forum says there'll be a big announcement in 15 days.
google translate
At the moment this is it.
I hope you liked it.
As I said before in about 15 days back with great news of international scope.
Tickets have been put up for sale seems to be of short duration. If you drain will post when it sells the next round so that you do not get caught unprepared.
Many things are very good for advertising, we hope that everything is pointing and is now finally be one of the best editions. At least so far all indications are that it will and we will return to surprise and strangers.
Fingers Crossed that Flaming Lips will be playing The Soft Bulletin
</Rumour>
I was right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spotify playlist
It may be 'killing music' but it has 9 out the 10 confirmed artists on it, which is more than I can say for my itunes collection.
http://open.spotify.com/user/fiddygent/playlist/1UrviCjXPm1tZRyyhrSL1M Primavera 2011
I'm gonna buy tickets for this on Wednesday when the next batch go on sale :D
So. I need hostel / apartment recommendations please. I've got my eye on a 2 person apartment in the city centre but any other suggestions would be appreciated.
there are lots of accommodation recommendations on last year's thread
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4203840
I have indeed investigated those :)
Thanks, though.
Can't we count on most new bands to be there?
Salem, Warpaint, etc...?
the only thing you can count on is Shellac.
Judging by the forums Shellac WON'T be playing
How can they bring that ass Ariel Pink back, whats next more sleepy sun and art brut?
at least there's no Shellac
Mmmm..
Believe that when I see it (or don't in this case).
Shellac must return
It's become tradition
Not like they're heck busy recording and touring they're arses off or anything
being the gatekeeper of indie integrity
is a full-time job.
I'm sure Albini will there in some form...
http://recordgeekheaven.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/steve-albini.jpg
Is there an announcement today?
It's been about 15 days now...
hope it's soon.
that first announcement was a bit underwhelming and i'm trying to sell the festival to a friend
There will be an announcement on Monday
according to the latest blog entry.
The new blog post
appears to suggest a major announcement on Monday (8th November).
So there's an announcement on Tuesday, right?
Booya
Blog post
also seems to suggest a few changes to the site... Including stopping the night entrance to the pitchfork stage which was a bit annoying to get out of this year...
To be honest it wasn't really a problem in years gone by but
this year it was a bit of a nightmare. The site was the busiest I had ever seen it though, blame Pixies.
Yeah getting
anywhere on the friday was a nightmare
New announcement at 9am today...
Strongly rumoured to be Radiohead
PULP
oh yes
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!!!!!!!
THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!!!!
!!!!!!!!
1000000000000000 times better than Radiohead. I actually gasped at my desk when I heard.
richard and me are thinking about going now
have always wanted to see pulp
spotify playlist updated
http://open.spotify.com/user/fiddygent/playlist/1UrviCjXPm1tZRyyhrSL1M
PULP???
meh...
You are so wrong, drummer boy
A HUGE
meh.... actually I hate them. Still going mind.
Booking this week
I heard Portishead playing too but I wouldn't count on that just yet
Pulp and Portishead would be fucking incredible.
Surely budget breakers though?
Dunno about that
they had the pixies and the pet shop boys last year, neither of which can be cheap. am guessing they must have a pretty big budget to play with!
Some relief, as I'm not going
and they aren't that great. Saw them a ton of times (always at festivals) and every time the whole lets-laugh-at-everything-Jarvis-says-or-does-with-his-legs got pretty tedious.
Babies would, admittedly be great to hear live again.
gonna be busier next year innit?
dunno if pulp could do a pavement and pull it off after so long away. some good smaller bands added but not sure if its enough to justify the cost/feet pain yet.
woah, half japanese
nice.
Pulp?!
Yeesh...that's a bit of a disappointment...
Awesome
Another excuse for us to reminisce and pretend that bands we liked when we were 12 were actually good. /trolling/butnotreally
We don't need an excuse, we are DiS.
More bands being announced today then,
via their Twitter, it seems.
So far: Belle and Sebastian and Animal Collective.
Suicide
Right there with you
Fuck it. I'm going.
FLAMING LIPS
Imagine they'll be doing the "Soft Bulletin" thing...
Flaming Lips...
Soft Bulletin????
The National as predicted and...
Mercury Rev
Mogwai
and
john cale
and Fleet Foxes
Spotify playlist updated: http://open.spotify.com/user/fiddygent/playlist/1UrviCjXPm1tZRyyhrSL1M
I'm happy to be going to AnCo ATP and all but...
...really, exam season? Why do you clash with Primavera? :'(
nice!
PLEASE LET UNI EXAMS BE FNISHED IN TIME!!!
I guess I'll just have to buy a ticket, leave flights until later and sit with my fingers crossed...or do other everyday things, with my fingers crossed.
wow.
so good.
time to round up people and look at accommodation. I know there's another thread on it - but if anyone can name a recommendation of a good place they stayed at this year, please do!
Well, I've got my ticket
and am investigating nice apartments - may have that sorted very soon too!
I still have Deserters Songs on CD, will have to give that a listen soon. I seem to remember loving it.
Once this line up is filled out with a few more up to date things and some more dancey stuff I think it's going to be incredible.
I've missed out on this entirely so just to annoy everyone...
You have to book an apartment right, theres no camping etc?
How much do I need in total for ticket, flights etc? The line-up is fuckin amazing so far...
WELL.
My boyfriend and I have booked an apartment which was £360 for the both of us for a whole week, and flights with BA which were £100 each. I don't think Ryan Air flights are on sale yet.
Ok cool, thanks for your help :)
See you in the Auditori!
The 'influential Mercury Rev will perform both in the Auditorium of the Parc del Fòrum and at the Poble Espanyol site on Sunday the 29th during the closing party'.
Auditori? That will deffo be a queue up for 5 hours and pay 2 euro for a ticket jobbie then won't it?
The line up is a bit 2003 isn't it?
?
Pulp 'split up' in 2002
Deserter's songs was released in 1998
Fleet Foxes released their first stuff in 2006
.......etc
Okay Le Pedant
I am just saying that Pulp, B&S, Flaming Lips, Mogwai, Mercury Rev (who were so bad last time I saw them I could have puked), are all of a certain time. And that time is not now.
Anyway, brilliant response - "that wasn't 2003 it was 2002, so that's fine!"
that wasn't my response at all.
this year's headliners were Pavement, Pixies and Pet Shop Boys, not very 2010.
and there's over 100 bands still to be announced
Milfy McMilferson
Where did i compare it to the 2009 line up?
But if you are asking, that was well 1994.
When did I mention 2009?
2010 then
You win, I said the wrong year.
Anyway, don't get me wrong, Primavera is fun, and I like indie-heritage acts, so this is an observation rather than a criticism.
not if you have a VIP ticket ;)
and we get a cloth wristband
i'm hoping Mogwai are in the auditorium as well
exactly.
the main headliners are always going to be bands with big back catalogues to choose from , for obvious reasons.
On one hand I think, "yeah, these are great",
on the other, "hmm, not particularly interesting for Primavera"
But there are lots more bands to be announced. God I hope GBV is one of them.
A large band is self-confirming playing Primavera on the Dec 16th as part of a European tour
We do know it's not Portishead, Arcade Fire (playing Benicassim) or the Cure (only playing Bestival).
Please speculate below:
***atypical primavera post alert***
definitely a band?
not bowie?
Um, has anyone heard about GBV?
http://robertpollard.net/
Seems like they won't be playing anywhere else. This is shit.
definitely a band....
So not Bowie, Sufjan or Morricone.
Could be:
Radiohead???
Beastie Boys???
Avalanches???
but probably will be someone else
'but probably will be someone else'
:D This.
kind of want it to be interpol after their brixton dates
My money's on Pj Harvey
She's playing Lisbon on 25th May and has no other shows until 31st May...
no because it's a band not an artist
just been informed that it's not a European band, we'll find out tomorrow.
Judas Priest,
part of their farewell tour next year.
dear christ
Pitchfork have announced their stage
and some of the bands on it:
Pitchfork will once again curate a stage at the San Miguel Primavera Sound Festival, which goes down May 25-29 at Parc del Fòrum in Barcelona, Spain. Artists on our stage at Primavera 2011 include the Walkmen, Twin Shadow, Das Racist, Gang Gang Dance, Male Bonding, Cloud Nothings, the Fresh & Onlys, Julian Lynch, Games, Emeralds, Aias, and 2010 Track of the Year champs Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Many more acts will be announced soon.
big announcement tomorrow (rumoured to be LCD) in the meantime..

Some announcements for the Poble Espanyol
Wednesday 25th May: NISENNENMONDAI + LAS ROBERTAS
Sunday 29th May: MERCURY REV perform Deserter’s Songs + DEAKIN + MY TEENAGE STRIDE + BMX BANDITS + THE VACCINES + ME AND THE BEES
Mega excited about Nisennenmondai. Blisteringly good live band.
oh, mercury rev are playing sunday?
i was hoping they'd play in the auditori...
also, bmx bandits :')
they're playing the audiotorium as well
two sets. unless thats what you meant.
are they playing 2 sets?
im sure i read that somewhere
one at the audiotorium and one at the park on friday.
where are they playing their 2 sets?
right, obviously i haven't been on dis/or kept up with the announcements...
oops http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4269653#r5693332
Spoon added too
No, it's just their performance this year added to the website to view.
I think.
Grinderman.
http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=noticias&noticia=268&lang=en
This is what I've been waiting for?
Bit disappointed, won't lie.
I dunno,
the blog post said the band themselves would be announcing or something.... but Primavera announced this fist. I'm confused.
*first.
Their Twitter seems to be posting a few bands ATM.
So we have Grinderman, and also Salem.
im disappointed
im pleased, but i was hoping for some others.
still going, cant wait for my second venture to primavera
When are you folks, who are going, going?
I see it runs for a day or so longer now, so are you looking at Tuesday & Monday flights? Or missing some of the festivities?
wednesday
but leaving on the sunday so missing the closing party :(
We're flying out on Wednesday and back on Monday.
Tuesday-Tuesday.
Oh yes.
Cheers folks
That's a lotta holiday to use up, innit? Think I'll need it though. My powers of recovery are not what they once were...
Monday is a Bank Holiday
so you may only need to take 3 days (if you go on Wednesday morning)
AWESOME!
Well double it up with time in Barcelona and it feels like an actual holiday rather than
just going to a festival
Tuesday - Monday here
Under no circumstances go home on the Sunday.
Why not?
Saturday night is always the best night
full on till about 7am or so, flew home on the Sunday at my first Primavera. Never again.
truth.
^ This manbearpig knows
i can't remember when i flew home last time
o well, flights booked for sunday. bring it.
Same here. Luton to Barcelona with the Orange airline.
I'm looking at accommodation now. I got a hotel this year but want an aparment next time.
I'm going home on the Sunday
(had to)
10am checkout on our apartment :'(
You might as well just stay up
^ same
So glad I'm making it a proper holiday this year - last year I got so frustrated at everything I wasn't able to do.
I'm aiming to save enough to go to a good restaurant every day.
last year i was too wrecked to go to the closing party.
i'm leaving on the sunday this year though.
i will say hello if i see you this year
hopefully i'll be less angry
How quickly does ace accomodation get snapped up?
I'm assuming that hostels are the first to go
last 2 times I've been...
I booked apartment rooms about 6 weeks before hand and I wouldn't do it any other way. From memory last year I got a decent apartment for 120 euro a night between 4 of us (it could've slept 6) - I imagine a hostel would be at least 20 euro a night for some bed bug infested dorm. An apartment is also great as you can go down the market and grab food/booze for lunch and cook/drink back there. Obviously this is only feasible financially if there's a few of ye.
aye
the apartment we stayed at last year was gorgeous
New info from the latest blog post (God bless you, Google Translate):
Echo and The Bunnymen to play their first two albums "Crocodiles" and "Heaven Up There" in full on the Wednesday. They're planning to announce most of the rest of the line-up in January, although they're leaving a few slots free in case they make some discoveries at SXSW. They're also rearranging the stages to decrease congestion, and they're adding a smaller, more intimate "New Bands" stage nearer the sea.
all sounds good
really need to book this. low on funds atm though.
also
i hope eatb are better than they were at connect. one of the worst live performances i've ever witnessed.
ticket bought.
roll on may.
Question re timetable
So Ive been before, Thu to Sunday, and I understand it's also Wed and Sun this year too in a different place. And it seems like some or all of Sunday may be a "closing party". BUT I can't really spare the time for the Wed and Sun too so if I "just" went Thu to Sun (as, for instance, See seem to only sell for (not that I'd buy from them)) does that mean I risk any of the big name acts announced so far? Or will they all play at least once in the Thu - Sat timespace? I mean defo Pulp, and for instance B&S, National, etc etc.
the tickets from see are for wed - sun
i've bought them from see in the past and they never get things like this right.
the wednesday/sunday line-up is here... they're announcing echo and the bunnymen for wednesday in the next few days officially with other line-up additions methinks.
http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=prensa&sec=comunicados&id=134&lang=en
it confirms the wed - sun full ticket on there too
:)
Thanks v much
Sorry; how irrating is it when people don't read websites. It does, however, look like I can take a pretty good view on me not missing too much on Wed and Sun. Thx
Next announcement: midnight Tuesday
Given the video at the bottom of their latest blog post, think it's safe to assume Big Boi will be making an appearance...
http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=es&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fprimaverasound.wordpress.com%2F2011%2F01%2F07%2Fel-mundo-en-sus-manos%2F&act=url

Tennis!
Makes up for missing their London gig last week.
They weren't that good on Friday
Not terrible but fairly boring, with only a few catchy songs (Baltimore, Marathon).
SHELLAC
they lied to us!
Ah that's good
I haven't seen Shellac for about 18 months
Ooh Pissed Jeans
I hope this means a new album soon too
i think there are half a dozen more to come

yuck were already confirmed weren't they?
good additions anyway
ooh and Autolux and Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500 :)
Autolux (whose last album is quite good, if essentially MBV paying homage to The Beatles)
Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500 - which on paper could be awesome
more superb additions
the undercard is fantastic
Dean Wareham plays Galaxie 500 *is* awesome
Rest assured.
Definitely want to go now!
Money Mark!
Didn't see that coming.
Wowzers. Didn't know he was still making choons?
I did a little fist pump at my desk when I seen that...
I saw Dean Wareham play at ATP and he was indeed awesome!
I've never been to this festival, does anyone have any recomendations on where to stay?
seefeel (who sound properly wicked from that video)
Caribou! Party time!
LOW
YESSSS
LOW
awesome. not seen them since the freak out at EOTR.
Jon. Spencer. Blues. Explosion.
No Big Boi yet?
I was a bit 'meh' with the first few but Caribou, Low
and Dean Wareham pulled it back. Caribou should be bloody brilliant at Primavera!
Caribou in 2008
was amazing.
they said on the forum
that the youtube vids they put on their blog are nothing to do with the line-up, just stuff they like.
uh-huh
*strokes chin*
They were only announcing the ATP stage
I hope thats why he hasn't been announced yet.
They (Caribou) played Primavera previously in 2007 or 2008 I think?
Anyway yeah they were great. I'm a sucker for any band playing with 2 live drummers.
Me too. Louder, innit?
Though the rule that every band with two drummers is brilliant was disproved when I learned Rialto has a pair themselves.
woah! Shellac for the ATP stage?
didn't see that one coming...
I love this photo
http://www.last.fm/music/Steve+Albini/+images/438915
I realy wanna go to this
but i don't think i have anyone to go with this time. Would it be crazy to go on my own? Also do you think there's anymore bands to be announced.
There's loads more bands to be announced
and i know one of them! (in the know)
any hints :)
When A Train Hits A Truck
Artful Dodger
on the Adidas originals stage
Nah
I'm going on my own, got pissed off trying to arrange friends to go with so thought fuck it I'll do it alone.
i went on my own last year.
had a great time, got in touch with a fella on lastfm who was staying in the same hostel, hung with him for a fair bit of the weekend.
if only i'd known...
i demand that we meet this year, fiddy
There will be LOADS more announced
I reckon it would be an OK festival to go to on your own, although it might get a little uncomfortable as it gets later, depending on your willingness to get chatting to strangers/dance on your own. I do remember some catalonians (is that the right word?) that we got talking to being super friendly.
Primavera is definitely something you can go to purely to enjoy music rather than for the 'atmosphere'/drinking.
First timer here
What time does the Festival start and finish from day to day? It could possibly influence my accomodation choices yer see, hmmmm.
Thursday is
usually about 6pm - 5am
Friday + Saturday is 4pm - whenever they stop the music. Was still going last year when I left at 7am on Sunday morning.
4.00pm - 6.00am daily
ish.
bump
2nd bump
More details on the Wednesday
One of the attractions of the opening day of the eleventh edition of San Miguel Primavera Sound, which will start on Wednesday 25th May in the Poble Espanyol, will be the mythical British band Echo & The Bunnymen with a concert in which they will play their first two records ("Crocodiles" and "Heaven Up Here").
Daniel Snaith’s project Caribou has also joined the line up of this first day, before giving a second concert on the ATP stage as part of the main programme which will take place in the Parc del Fòrum site on the 26th, 27th and 28th May.
So, during the first day in the Poble Espanyol it will be possible to see Las Robertas, Nisennenmodai, Echo & The Bunnymen and Caribou, and on the closing day, which will be in the same place on Sunday 29th May, it will be the turn of Mercury Rev who will play Deserter's Songs, BMX Bandits, Deakin, My Teenage Stride, The Vaccines and Me And The Bees.
Echo and The Bunnymen, Caribou and Nisennenmodai (followed by Absinthe bar) sounds like a pretty sweet night to me.
if i go i will definitely make it to the absinthe bar this time
It's amazing*
*I don't remember anything about it
GOLD PANDA
have self-confirmed via. p4k
ACE
so presumably...
we'll have another line-up announcement on 5th feb?
According to the Primavera blog
via google translate, the final lineup should be announced first week of Feb
all at once?
neil young wasn't announced until later a couple of years ago...
not complaining mind.
Blog post now up in English
"I also wanted to let you know that in the first week of February we will finally reveal the line up of the next edition. A day that we hope will be special for all those people. For us after a year of work, I am sure it will be."
Given that the tickets go up in price from 5th Feb I reckon best guess is either next Friday or Saturday for an announcement. Any predictions? It may have already been pointed out but, PJ Harvey is playing in Lisbon on 26th May then has a gap in touring until Amsterdam on 30th May and has yet to announce any Spanish dates so I reckon she looks fairly likely.
from the message boards
it says it will be mid next week.
PJ Harvey does look a good bet. After today's announcement from ATP is there any chance of Jeff Magum in the Auditori?!?!
i'd bloody love to see jeff magnum...
but i'm not sure atp will be able to go back on the whole 'first show in a bazillion years' line.
also
why add him to an already awesome bill when you can sell a whole other festival on the basis of him playing it. atp can find a way to help him tour properly then not only will they be doing the music world a favour but they'll also make an absolute mint.
Also...
Imagine the queues for Mangum in the auditorium...you'd have to spend half the festival there just to guarantee seeing him. (And judging from the NY ATP site, he'd definitely play the auditorium - he's playing a theatre in NY). Still...how brilliant it would be :). (Not quite his first show in forever, though - he played the Chris Knox benefit recently).
Warpaint and Explosions in the Sky are in the area at the time
Those should be a safe bet.
Where...
exactly is the show on the wednesday?Wheres best to get off the train etc?
Here

Looks like Espanya is the nearest stop.
I've booked me a nice studio apartment near the Picasso museum.
Really excited now. It's near night bus routes to both sites.
goodluck with the bus
the metro system is pretty good
AVOID the 'free' bus.
It's near the yellow metro line too
So won't have to do the bus thing every night.
just stay up till the metro starts again...
WINNING METHOD
taxi back to town...
15 euro from memory, shared between 4 people - about a beer each...i took one look at the line for the free bus...and hell no.
^ this
or the trams
Primavera amateur...
Is the Poble Espanyol going to be impossible to get into on the Wednesday unless you get there mega early? Going for first time this year after finally persuading some friends to go, very excited.
It should be OK
It's the old festival site. There were problems last year as the Wednesday night was in a club and I think more people arrived than they were expecting...
That was one of my favourite nights
We didn't even get in. Just bought SHITLOADS of 1euro cans of Estrella off men in the street, got our wristbands then went to Bar Marsella
We did the same
Was a great night until I lost my phone and left Ghostpony waiting in the bus station at 5 in the morning...
...i'm flying out this year.
;)
and has me to look after her
UH OH
I know this is STILL 5 months away,
but fucking HELLZ am I excited :D
*4 months
Press conference next Wednesday
According to the message boards, noon Spanish time, 11am in the UK.
Going by their previous messages this should be 99% of the final lineup save a few late additions post SXSW. Apparently, according to another thread, we can expect around 200 bands this year, so there's loads to be announced.
HURRY UP WEDNESDAY!
200!
There's only about 60 at the moment and the line-up is already amazing. Another 140 is far too exciting to be true, surely.
Well by my count there were around 180 last year
So 200 sounds feasible, of course I can't now find the board post where I read that.
Around 80 of those were on the tiny stage
to the left of the ATP stage though.
any idea whether these will be acts lower down the bill or a mixture?
The lineup is fantastic anyway but was just curious
It will be a mixture, I was being a bit facetious.
There will be something for everyone, there always is. At least one more headliner I would imagine along with some other 'name' acts followed by the filler.
DJ Shadow self confirmed
via his website
Fuck Yeah
bump
WOWZERS!!1!
Huzzah!
Pretty sure someone wanted to know about my accomodation
But as it was Saturday night that we had the conversation, I have no idea who it was. Sorry to anyone that I was supposed to get back to.
I was talking to LLB and Vamos about accomodation, you were
probably eavesdropping.
:D
Actually, it may have been Vamos that I was talking to. END OF MYSTERY.
I should be booking my ticket and hopefully apartment this week.
Fuck me I'm excited.
Definitely have apartment and flights this week...
Can anyone link me to that nifty website that has good apartments on it please?
It has a weird name. I swear it was in one of the old threads but I can't find it now.
I booked mine here:

Also check out www.apartmentsramblas.com/

Can someone give me a rough idea
of travel and accommodation costs for one/two people?
I'm really really tempted but have no idea if I can afford it.
if anyone was thinking of hostels
i have stayed in centric point. right by plaza cataluna. amazing area - stayed there for the 09 edition. it cost around 25€ per night per person
for travel around the city you can get a book of tickets for like 10€ i think that was around 10 journeys....dunno cant remember
7.10 for the 10 trip ticket
And you can use them for 2 people
depends really
obviously the tickets are waaay more expensive now (170 euro i think? i got mine for 115). basically, this is what it's cost me so far for two people:
2 x tickets = £215
ba flights = £200
an amazing apartment for a week = 420 euro (£360)
so yeah, you do the maths... i have no idea how much flights cost now, and obviously if you fly with ryanair / easyjet, they'll probably fly to girona or reus and not barcelona...
No Easyjet do fly to Barcelona itself
you'll be lucky to get a flight for £100 now though, from London anyway. It was that much when I booked mine back in November.
oooh, interesting.
mega-glad i'm going with British Airways to be honest, flying from TERMINAL FIVE <3
(as long as they don't, um, go on strike, that is)
What? I'm going with BA and it flies from T3.
I just know they're going to strike that week. Going to cycle to Spain if they do.
YOU ARE RIGHT :(
I thought all BA flights left from terminal 5. DAMN.
Well at least we'll be able to reserve our seats and get a free snack onboard.
*free double gin and tonic
although, my flight leaves at 7.10am. Do you think they'll be serving alcohol then?
Probably.
If not, just booze up in the Wetherspoons with all the hoi polloi off to Malaga beforehand.
not long...
til the press conference - 11am here i think
I fly with BA last time
Except they went on strike so we were taken there by a decomissioned AIR GHANA plane
oh christ.......
*prays for no strikes*
And friends of mine were left stranded at Barcelona airport
for hours on the way back and are still trying to claim compensation.
Our flight back was done by Titan Airways
They were 3 hours late.
But that pales in comparison to some friends who went skiing with Titan Airways once. Who flew them to the wrong country
PIL!
via facebook
HURRY UP 11AM!
whats happened?
tis all crashed
Yeah, can't get on the radio...
Seems PiL have confirmed though. Nice.
BEASTIE BOYS
Does someone follow crablin on twitter?
This user does not exist
Didn't think I could hate him more, tbh.
Is he being an utter cunt?
Language young lady.
Good grief.
Sorry.
But, well, it is Crablin.
No, but somebody should check the veracity of speculative RTs!
Where did you see that?
YEAH!
oh my god.
this is hilarious. i didn't even use the correct Primavera twitter user when i retweeted it.
I feel violated.
ur kidding?!!!
AMAZING!!!!!!!
Does anyone speak Spanish?
I dabble
Pretty sure they just announced Metallica
i'm sure i heard them mention thethe loads of times
I thought I heard "Katy Perry playing the Adidas Stage"...
Shit, I thought you did?
urgh
they're tweeting it all in Spanish too.
So far:
8 escenarios principales en el Forum (8 main stages?)
se añade un cine dentro del festival Silent cinema (errr?)
Listening to Primavera Radio now.
My Spanish isn't as good as I thought :(
The band names will be in English surely?
He just said Grizzly Bear :\
And I thought the preamble in Simon Pegg's autobiography was long...

SUFJAN STEVENS
Don't want to ruin the surprise for those counting down one by one. But OMG...

AWESOME
simian mobile disco
,
Don't worry, you didn't
Interpol
Oh dear.
Hehe Jamie Eckees Eckees

Polly Harvey
:(
Glenn Branca Ensemble...
!
Sufjan, PJ Harvey, Pere Ubu, Rubik & Simian Mobile Disco just appeared and vanished
on their twitter feed, so I guess that Spanish site is spot on.
This line up
:)
This is going to be seriously amazing!
wow
Really happy with this. Particularly PJ Harvey, Sufjan Stevens, Big Boi, Battles (!!) and Tune-Yards!
SO MUCH GRIN
When taken as a whole, there's quite a few acts I really wanna see now
Not dozens, but that's cool as there'll be loads of clashes I suspect. And it gives me more beach time. Really glad about PJ Harvey as I've not seen her in about 8 years or so.
Truthfully, right now about 40% of those names are just that to me... names. Must investigate more of them, and fast!
For example, are any of these latest bands announced rocking noise colossi that I may have missed out on? Just that on a first look it's this latest lot seem a bit lacking in bands who love their guitars turned up rather loud? But that could be totally down to me having not heard of them before...
Who are you most excited about then, eh?
I've just made a list of what I *must* see, followed by others I *might*.
The list is huuuge. Anyway, I'm most pumped for: Sufjan (although in the Audotorium? GULP), Battles, DJ Shadow, LINDSTROM!, Gold Panda, The National, Low, Interpol, Emeralds. <<< pretty standard list :(
oh yeah, and Matthew Dear,
James Blake, Baths, Caribou. THERE'S LOADS. I feel like my head might EXPLODE.
highlights
Baths, Big Boi, Field Music, Matthew Dear, Of Montreal, James Blake, Sufjan Stevens, Tune Yards
Pleased Sufjan is in the Auditori - it'll involve a long old wait, but well worth it.
Sorry, accidental this there
Is Sufjan really that good? Everyone here seems made up, so I'm guessing so?
I really ought to check him out more in case I adore him I suppose! I've just never really got all the fuss before...?
I cried when I saw him at the Barbican a few years ago.
Yeah. He's amazing live. PLEASE PLAY EVERYTHING FROM THE AGE OF ADZ PLEASE PLEASE SUFJAN PLEASE!
*nothing from age of adz
I never bothered with him, but I love his new album
In the Auditori though will be more toruble than it's worth
He's amazing live
and hasn't played here for about 5 years.
Ah I see...
'The Auditori more trouble than it's worth'. Is that a really small room then?
Its an indoor seated stage
like the Barbican, it holds a fair few but for someone as popular as Sufjan it will still be a scrum. They sell tickets for the bigger acts that play there for €2 each on the day they play, to guarantee you entry. I imagine the queue for those tickets will start early.
Got ya
Cheers for that.
Well, better go see if he's my cup of tea or not I guess?
I'm with you.
Never really bothered with him. It'd be rather vexing to some people if I used the old VIP pass to get into the Auditori to try him out for the first time, eh?
Urgh
I've spent all morning thinking The Field was playing. I fucking hate Field Music. Feeling a bit stupid now.
are any of those bands headliners?
i'm not being facetious/greedy, but it seems that most of those acts have been announced through rockdelux and will therefore play on that stage.
does this mean that someone from the first lot of additions is one of the headliners: belle and sebastien/animal collective maybe?
Rockdelux
is the main indie magazine in spain, so basically they've just given all the names announced today.
As for the Auditori, where Sufjan will be playing, has a 3.000 capacity (seated), and Sufjan will be playing there 2 days (thu & fri).
Pulp?
They don't really have headliners as such anyway, the bands go on to about 3-4am.
headliners
There are bigger acts, and smaller acts, but not really headliners as such, though Pulp would definitely be one of those, and they described Grinderman as such too. Sonic Youth played after Neil Young a couple of years back, but that doesn't really mean they were higher up the bill than him. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder, but I'd be surprised if any more huge names were announced now
i was there in 2008 and neil young was announced pretty late...
and budgetwise he was the biggest act.
they made a song and dance about pulp being headliners, but have not done that since with the other bands.
i do appreciate that it isn't a headliner-lead festival though...
i stand corrected on grinderman
:)
http://i48.tinypic.com/ort45g.jpg
if Ducktails doesn't play on a beach
it'll be a wasted opportunity
I cannot believe how good the line up for this is
Gonna really have to try and work out how to afford and get to this.
Someone HAS to give me a job soon :(
I really want to go
Anyone know what Kode9 Burial Set (UK) involves?
Fuckin' love this line up.
tbh, this is a bit of a stupid question. but i'm hoping it's going to be more than Kode 9 mixing up some old Burial material
well,
Burial is NOT playing at primavera festival #herewegoagain
URGH THIS BLOODY SITE
^that was a tweet from Hyperdub.
lame.
i was hoping so much they'd left out '&' between Kode9 Burial
i cant make this :(!
the line ups like 50 times better than last years
Wasn't MAJORLY impressed with the new additions,
but then looking at whole line-up........FUCK.
PiL, PJ Harvey, Soft Moon, Battles, Black Angels, DJ Shadow and Interpol are my picks. Really intrigued by Glenn Branca as well.
I'll have to look into Sufjan Stevens and see if he's not the wet indie boy that I thought he was.
I've just listened to all of that Soft Moon album
Good stuff. Pretty obvious who the artist(s) admire, but still... damn decent.
Yeah, it sounds really familiar but still
oddly compelling. Hoping the live show exaggerates the more sinister/industrial parts.
Roll call for the DiSers with VIP and can skip the queue for Sufjan!!
I'll save you a good seat manbearpig
yep
Me! I got my VIP the day they went on sale.
Nicer loos were my main concern :) It got to be a right hassle going over to the mall to piss. Festivals are the one time I wish I had a dick.
Yep
Even more glad I did now. First time I've had those tickets though. Is it true there's a free bar there too?
Free beer
but you can only drink it int he VIP area, so you can't watch bands and drink free booze at the same time. Except the main stage I guess.
Are these new additions all for the Thursday-Saturday?
Thinking of leaving on Sunday and fretting about missing something amazing. http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=noticias¬icia=276&lang=en From this I would only be bothered about missing Mercury Rev but would be gutted to miss some of the new additions.
Price
Anyone know how much the general price of the festival is? Like ticket price and flights from Manchester etc?
SUFYAWN STEVENS
Sorry, can't resist!
DFA1979 have to play...
They're in Europe for another festival beginning of May.
Fuck I'm now all booked up for Primavera I'm so excited I've been restless all day!
So I'm thinking of going on my own...
... as I have no one to with (well I do, but I don't want to be a gooseberry). Good idea or not?
going on your own is better than not going
you'll make friends!
Me too, my pal couldn't afford it in the end
Why don't all the solo DiSers have a meet-up?
i've been restless all day too
which has made work go fast!
Tickets and flights are already booked and about to sort out apartment. So so excited.
quick question re: tickets
I went in 2008 and 2009, but had last year off. Now I've forgotten all the details. Do tickets usually sell out? I'm trying to bugdet for the next couple of months. I can book the flights now but I don't think I can afford the ticket too. Will it be ok to wait until the end of the month to snap up a ticket?
Don't think it has ever sold out has it?
I know they said the saturday last year was their busiest ever day though.
I thought that it doesn't sell out.
I'll get my flights sorted then just play it by ear. If it does happen to sell out (unlikely) then I'm sure I'll be able to find something on here or elsewhere.
Getting others involved/sticking a deposit down on an apartment/hostel is the trickier part...

Thanks for this :)
So is that it for the line up?
I'm still hoping for a bit more electronica.
I believe someone said earlier on in this mammoth thread
That electronic acts and more specifically DJs get announced nearer the time. But I could be very wrong indeed about that...?
From my experience..
this is the best electronica line-up the festival has ever had. So I wouldn't be expecting more at all.
Its lacking a big electro name
Like Orbital last year. I don't think this is the full line up yet.
I hope there's at least one big electronica name to come.
I'm just annoyed Underworld are committed to Sonar.
Also, Omar S is at ATP two weeks before.
Come on Primavera, what are you playing at?!
Yeah there's not as much crossover
with ATP this year as I'd have liked / hoped, since I'm not going.
This festival still needs a BCox injection.
He's been on the bill in some form for the last 3 years I think.
Brian Cox, the physicist?
Glasser!
woop woop, and indeed; woop.
Would love to see Deerhunter there again
But perhaps fact they're playing in Barcelona couple of months earlier on tour precludes this, or at least any announcement of them being on the bill?
is
the line up complete now then?
Just booked our EasyJet flights
fly from Luton on Tuesday, come back Sunday. £115 in total.
If anyone's thinking about going and hasn't booked flights yet,
I'd get on it soon. They are creeping up in price and many are down to "1 seat remaining"...
Can't wait now. Will be my third PS in four years. Tickets are now up to 170EUR. Are all the outlets the same price (inc booking fees) or has anyone found the cheapest?
is anyone from/living in Liverpool going?
if so c'mere...http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4277969
or here...
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/social/4277969

Day tickets points of sale: Codetickets, Atrapalo.com, the Ticketmaster
^ Good work. lomax!
I see they separated Nick Cave from PJ Harvey by two days.
would it be wrong
to assume that these bands are the "headliners". No mention of Big Boi....
didnt even know einsturzende neubauten were playing!!
Friday is going to be TOO good.
EITS, Low, The National, Pulp and Sufjan?????
Really hope Animal Collective are playing
at like 3am like they did in 2006. Hearing 'Banshee Beat' at sunrise is still one of my favourite gig moments EVER.
arghghghghghgh
i cannot imagine how good that would be
PROGRAMME PER DAY ON THE PITCHFORK STAGE
Here are the days of some of the concerts that will take place on the Pitchfork stage in the next edition of the San Miguel Primavera Sound:
Thursday 26th May: Das Racist, Emeralds, Glasser, Gold Panda, The Walkmen
Friday 27th May: Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti, Julian Lynch, Male Bonding, Kode9 And The Space Ape, Twin Shadow
Saturday 28th May: Darkstar, Gang Gang Dance, Gonjasufi, Kode9 Burial Set, Odd Future
Is Girl Talk still playing?
According to his myspace he's still in the states on tour when primavera is on. Didn't he do the exact same thing last year??
His US tour finishes on the 28th, so I assume he'll fly over & play 29th, then tour a bit
Ah so he won't be playing the actual festival then at parc del forum
which disappoints me if so, as I'm generally too wrecked to attend the sunday things that go on afterwards
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This
Ah, first Primavera for me... Didn't know this would be a problem
Phew!
Girl Talk confirmed for the Thursday, especially good as I'm going home on Sunday.
Don't really understand how that fits in with his US tour, but it's just been confirmed by Primavera. Looks like he could be flying to Spain for 26th and then back for final US date
Bikini (Ed hardy,polo) $20 ?

Jurassic park!!!
SHIT
http://www.gotimeshare.org/travel/00982-breaking-news-–-spanish-airport-workers-threaten-strike
The strike dates around Primavera are May are 2, 14, 15, 19, 20 and June 13, 23 and 30 so hopefully we should be okay.
Would anyone flying out early would be affected though? Even if you flew on the 21st you can reasonably expect major disruption up to a few days after a strike... as passengers and baggage will be backlogged and will have to be cleared along with the normal traffic.
UUURGH
I'm going on the 24th.
http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2011/03/16/economia/1300253603.html
That says that the proposed strikes have been avoided.
PROGRAMMES! GET YER PROGRAMMES HERE!

Listening to Fiddygent's Spotify playlist all day has made me realise
just how many ridiculously awesome acts are playing at this beast.
EXCITED!
Eugh, Ryanair have just changed my flight out
Now it leaves from an airport in the middle of nowhere at a time which makes it *almost* impossible to get there by public transport.
THANKS, THANKS A LOT
Are they allowed to do that without covering the cost of taxis and stuff.
Check your T&Cs
I think Ryanair T&Cs are just a big picture of Michael O'Leary pissing on your chips
And laughing.
and waving me in to the expensive car park
what time do you fly from girona?
the buses that go from barcelona to girona airport are timetabled to run alongside departure times of flights there, so you'll probably be ok.
timetable here http://www.sagales.com/index.php?Origen=cp315&Desti=15&secc=cerca
it's about 20euros for a return bus ticket
Nah, it's the flight out, not the return
Although the one back from Girona has also been moved forward a few hours, meaning I'll have to be up early on departure day :(
Are there gonna be any additions?
Not sure if you guys saw but a few little updates:
Vaccines cancel (meh) as do Annuals (bit of a shame, they're pretty damn good).
Suicide also say they're going to mainly play material from their debut record. Which is nice.
http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=noticias¬icia=291&lang=en
generally good news
suicide's debut record is incredible and vaccines not playing means a better band will be playing before mercury rev...
shame about annuals mind.
You'll be off your face by the time Suicide come on and miss them
anyway.
Looks like the festival might have some B.Cox after all
http://www.elasticartists.net/w/#
Click on Deerhunter - says they are playing
just got my flights!
£40 returns from liverpool to reus (an hour out from barcelona) with ryan air! thought i was gonna have to shell out £150+ for this, so reaaally relieved! whomp!
Ok, I'll stop despising everyone in this thread now
because I've got a ticket!
Liverpool - Reus on the Wednesday and we're staying on an ex RAF boat, the captain said he'll row us to the festival if we don't want to walk :DDD
Good work Scout!
An ex-RAF boat?
I think you win coolest accommodation award
it's this one
(there's an old photo of it in the war at the end)
Bit dubious about the bathroom
http://www.airbnb.com/rooms/63026
Oh my
WELL jealous. Party at yours methinks!
the owner had some aftershow parties on there last year
and he said wants to again this year too so, actually, yes party at ours!
OH I FORGOT TO REPLY AGAIN!!
*sigh*
no worries, I'm paying today but if you want to stay with us then I've told him abotu it
so you'd just need to make the booking separately. There's still 3 or 4 beds free there, I don't know if they're just those cabin beds or not but he says we've got a real double bed so maybe there are proper bedrooms that he's not put photos of online.
this isn't very good English
SCOUT!
How do I find out if I'd have a bedroom? I LOVE the idea of staying here, but I'm not sure if deadonthestairs is ready for this jelly.
is this old? I don't know if this is before we said it's all going ahead...
I dunno. You're staying with us anyway, if you want to. We're in beds but I don't know about the 'room' side of things.
holy shit!
Want to do that next year!
cute dog!
Doesn't matter now does it ya daftie,
Scout, it looks great, I'm there for the party. "We're gonna need a bigger boat" Jaws 1975.
we went to see jaws at victoria baths the other night
and the boat they use reminded me of this one!
Update:
CLOSING PARTY
After the second day of concerts in the Poble Espanyol, on the night of Sunday 29th May there will be the now classical closing party in the two rooms of the Apolo. The confirmed artists are Simian Mobile Disco (djs), The Black Angels, Blondes, Dj Supermarkt and Declan Allen (dj).
Let’s Facelift bar!
this makes no sense now the spam has been deleted
Let's Facelift bar!
When do the set times get published?
Can't wait to get stuck in and plan my three days.
Second year for me, had an amazing time in 2010
The 2011 excel spreadsheet is coming....
I've got Office 2010 now, exciting times.
I came here to ask about this
You might become my new favourite person in the next few days
Nothing beats a good session of festival planning.
your massive spotify playlist is still proving amazingly useful
and now this. you spoil us.
^this
with the added benefit that working on a spreadsheet looks more like doing work than posting on here does.
Are there going to be any last minute big additions...
weren't Pet shop boys announced really late last year?
and neil young the year before...
expect deerhunter to be one of the late additions.
White Stripes were announced 3 weeks prior to the festival in
2007.
I'm gutted, as due to being extremely broke this year I'm gonna have to sell my ticket
I did buy it at an earlier stage though for only £135, so if you want to buy it or know of someone needing one, message me
I'm meant to buying mine off a user on here but not heard back with payment details yet
so I *might* be interested. WATCH THIS SPACE!
I think I'm sorted for tickets now, by the way
ahahahahaha
i remember meeting you last year. BY ACCIDENT. so weird.
haha yes, had forgotten that memory. twas at cocorosie if I remember correctly, was nice to meet ya
It's really tough selling my ticket for this year when thinking of all the great memories I have of the festival.. ah well hopefully be more flush come next year
Ok that's cool
Just let me know whenever you can
New additions
Deerhunter, Moon Duo, Prince Rama, Marina Gallardo, Za! and Weak
complete the list of actions in the main stages of the PS
Deerhunter and Moon Duo, muy bueno
Hi!
how's that spreadsheet coming along? :)
Massive youtube playlist
available here http://bit.ly/dHlife
This is my third year in a row and the lineup keeps getting better and better. Can't wait!
AWESOME
Thanks for this!
Deerhunter!
Bradford Cox had to be there really, didn't he? So many clashes inevitable though this year. Feeling quite smug because I bagged VIP tickets now. One good consequence of being forced to miss last year, I wasn't going to hang round this time. It's less than six weeks to go now!
I have VIP tix too! I knew about Deerhunter already
Maybe they wanted to wait until the Spanish dates they are currently doing sold out.
New blog update
http://primaverasound.wordpress.com/
Looks like the Pitchfork stage is moving to where Vice was in 2008... I wasn't at that one but from what I've heard this is a great location.
Also they seem to be looking in to some electronic payment system for the bars using the cards that you get. Probably better than tokens but could turn out to be a nightmare...
I didn't go last year.
But in 2008 they had the stage down by the harbour (down those huge steps) which was a really great stage.
In 2009 they had shut that off - and opened up a pretty boring large flat space down on the other side - which was a real shame. I think it was called the Raybans stage in 2009. It will be so much better moved to the original location.
Ah man, I can't wait.
Was Pitchfork the under cover one last year?
And Vice was the furthest away, on the coast? That'll be good if they do that cos I think we spent a massive amount of time at the Pitchfork stage and it did my head in that we were always undercover. IT BETTER BE SUNNY.
I am dying to see the stage times and sort out my preferences like a little nerdburger.
yeah, it was under cover
the one with the antlers, and surfer blood, and japandroids etc. and yeah, vice was down away from everywhere, where harlem and yeasayer played.
also i am desperate to see the stage times too. FOUR WEEKS TOMORROW <3
Went last year for the first time
Best festival I've ever been to, and dare I say it the line-up this year is better. All my uni exams are finished by then but I have no-one to go with because my friends will still be doing theirs, it sucks :(
I like the sound of the 'access card as bar tab' thingy
So, its looking...
like the Champions League Final will be Barcelona vs Man Utd whilst we are all in Barcelona for Primavera. Anyone got any thoughts on this - I'm thinking the atmosphere will be brilliant if Barca win. Just a bit worried that might happen in Manchester United win.
Gonna bring my Man U shirt
It was kinda annoying last time...everybody had these really loud horns that they'd blow in your faces. I remember there was some riot police actually.....
Was at Primavera during the 09 Barcelona - United final
and it was an incredible atmosphere. You couldn't move on La Rambla. I think a riot broke with the police as well, if I remember rightly.
cool, I love a good riot atmosphere :(
did they show it at the forum too? I hope it doesn't clash with any bands I want to see
last time the final was on a wednesday, day before the festival
this year it's on the Saturday, so I don't know if they'll show it or not
it was a day before the festival started I think
we went down to the dock and watched it on a massive screen. great fun
^ this x 10
yeah!
we were there too!
Booked my trip to get there a week early last year
In the hope that Barca reached the final. Then Mourinho fucked it up and Inter beat them in the semi. Would have been amazing as the festival and the final were in separate weeks then.
Would love them to show the game on a big screen this year. I hope they don't schedule any good bands between 9 and 11 on the Saturday
I think that they will limit the bands
if Barca are in the final. You'd really hope they would, as everyone will want to watch it. Especially as it's on the Saturday night this year, therefore people would have to make a decision on one or the other.
In '09 we went to the main big screen at the harbour. It was fantastic, such a good atmosphere. Walked into town after to soak up the party, ending up staying in a bar and missed all the aggro that kicked off with the police following the game. Bins on fire and barricades kicked across La Ramblas, looked mad!
9 & 11?! Whaaaa?
That's rubbish, there's bound to be bands I want to see on at that time.
I really hope they show it in the forum now!
If anyone who isn't bothered about watching it would like to form a break away group, you know...and actually watch some bands then I'm in :)
I'm in, you Scout are now in charge of said group.
Lead us...
Excellent!
I await stage times and once received I'll come up with a plan of action. Then we'll have fun and not set fire to any bins.
I doubt they will limit the bands, the line-up is already packed as it is
The two main stages both have around 2 more acts playing each day than they usually do. Hence it's really tricky predicting the schedule at the moment.
BTW: when is your boat party?
I just can't see them having a full schedule
of bands, if there is a Barcelona Champions League Final. I think that stages will still be running, but they won't have any of the big headliners playing. The locals would go crazy!
Anyway I'm looking forward to the queues on Saturday
According to my draft timetable the only 'headliner' that clashes is Fleet Foxes. However I haven't added Mogwai or DJ Shadow to the schedule yet - as they haven't been assigned a stage. FYI: Based on previous years the headliners normally start at around 11pm/10:30pm on the outside stages and 7pm in the auditorium.
DRAFT TIMETABLE?!
want
they might slightly amend the timetable
but i would expect to miss at least one band while the football's on. i'll be watching it in a bar near montjuïc, so it won't be manic getting to the venue.
las ramblas was REALLY fun last time barca won the champions league, until i got mugged. be careful kids.
money-belt, yeah?
we saw a pregnant lady get mugged last year :(
i need to get with the picture
the champions league is on THE SATURDAY not the wednesday.
stupid face.
yeah man
hence the qualms.
I think the captain wants a party everynight! Or on the sunday at least
But maybe we could have a bit of an afternoon gathering one day towards the start of the festival. I guess there'll be a MEAT thread nearer the time to sort parties out and whatnot :)
Are there any other United fans from here who are going?
TOMATRON?!?
It's going to be horrific either way, isn't it?
I was really hoping
That Madrid would beat Barcelona. I don't like Madrid at all, but at least everyone in Barcelona would be cheering for United in the final.
It's going to be some kind of giant mess
I have to admit that my love of football has waned dramatically over the last few years, so I guess I'll decide once the timetable is released what I'm going to do..
Info about the new way of paying is here
http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=portal&lang=en
way to make getting drunk excessively complicated
thanks Spain
People were confused
last year when you had to buy tickets from machines... God help them this year...
I hope it's not as stupid as last year where you had to decide ahead of time
what drinks you wanted. Why can't you just have generic drink tokens, Primavera? Huh?
Yeah hopefully
you just fill the card up with cash and then buy what you want...
yeah, i think in that way it'll be better.
That was pretty ridiculous.
Up until 2008
you just bought tokens in the amount you wanted, was a better idea but what they're doing this year sounds good.
yeah, they do make things complicated
I still don't really know what's going on with the different venues and the site doesn't really explain things. Last year we just stayed at forum the whole time.
So, I guess we keep checking the site until we can register...
I've been trying to find info about the other venues
Can't find the addresses anywhere on the website
I wasn't too bothered last year
but then I saw unrealcitymart's photos from the parc thingy and it looked really good. I'm totally baffled by the whole thing really. I'm hoping to just meet some of you lot and follow you!
Other places
Wednesday night is here
http://tinyurl.com/6yt94h8
Park stuff is here I think
http://tinyurl.com/684o7ur
I could be wrong about where the park shows are...
no you're right
the park is a different one this year, much closer to the fest site.
thankyou!
I think that park is within walking distance of my apartment!
yeah!
The Poble Espanyol is really close to our apartment. PARTY!
From the blog
'There are also already details about the programme of some of the activities that will take place during the week prior and parallel to the main event, like Primavera al Parc which will be on the 27th, 28th and 29th May. Sonny & The Sunsets, Comet Gain, The Fresh & Onlys, Tennis, Cloud Nothings, Autolux, Espaldamaceta & Caballo, Ducktails, Dan Melchior und Das Menace, Las Robertas, Espanto, Inspira and Dotore are some of the bands that will play on the two stages of the Parc Central del Poblenou.'
http://tinyurl.com/62vzuro
http://tinyurl.com/6dfd2dc
i think it'll be ok.
as long as you get organised and get your card early enough (wednesday night, or early thursday) and then register it, it'll be fine. i think my main worry is totally losing track of how much i've actually spent on drinks.
Am I the only person who thinks this is a really good idea?
- keep the short bar queues
- don't have to queue to buy tokens/credit
- don't have to decide what you're going to drink that evening when you're still trying to delude yourself you're going to be semi-sensible
- Can keep credit if your card is stolen
sounds good to me
I think it's a really good idea
I'd just like to be able to know when we can register and stuff. The website isn't exactly exhaustive so I'm just concerned I'll be a total moron and not know how or when to register or miss the mail about it.
I don't have a smart phone
so I'm going to have to queue twice, once to put credit on, once to get a drink.
and that doesn't remove the possibility of it breaking / going wrong under what is, I am sure, going to be large usage levels. how many complaints do you see about Oysters dying/overcharging?
it also makes no mention of what you can do if you have credit left at the end of the festival
and if you are using a smartphone and want to top up on site, surely the data charges will be huge?
even if you do end up queuing twice
I swear this took less time last year than queuing for a drink does at most festivals. There were times when there were no queues to get token or buy a drink.
yeah, i mean, i don't think i ever really "queued" to get a drink.
like what, 5 mins max?
I think
they are going to have wi-fi hot spots around the site...
It'd be great if it could be refunded back onto your card,
but I doubt that'll happen, somehow.
Think this is another plus towards taking a laptop.
RE: charges, what's the chances of there being wifi that you can connect to?
it'll probably be fine you know.
Yeah sounds like a really good idea
Although I just realised our apartment doesn't have wi fi. Bum.
...
it isn't obligatory, but if you want to see sufjan stevens or drink anything then you have to register with our new fangled system. thanks
ALSO
I'M WELL EXCITED FOR THIS :D
First festival for a couple of years.
Like above, I do hope they show the game at the Forum, I bloody love watching football in big crowds, especially Spaniards, but the Saturday lineup is crammed with great bands, would be a shame to miss anything.
i wanna go
FAO: BILL CALLAHAN FANS
he isn't playing primavera, but i've spotted he's playing in barcelona on the 23rd and imagined a few disers may already be there/interested
http://www.dragcity.com/tours#tour_date_2433
i arrive in barcelona at 23:20 on the 23rd :''''(
ooooo, good info
it's his manchester gig next week, I heard it's a two hour set. I'm excited!
he plays london the night before my most important exam
destined never to see him*
*even though i already have, but not since Eagle :(
Aw man, that sucks
maybe it'll be good for your revision to take the night before off...
Champions League final
I raised the likelihood of the final being shown on the site on their forum a while back, and it won't be. Apart from the fact there are licensing issues if they were to show it, it would just cause too big a potential problem with different factions. Football or music I'm afraid. It's easy enough to go to a bar nearby if you really want to anyway. Might even be less crowded on the Saturday night then! Personally I wish UEFA had left the final on the Wednesday, as that was a great way to start the weekend
Oh man :(
That's rubbish.
TICKETS FOR SALE- PLEASE HELP!
Hey, I have had the absolute proverbial 'mare'.
Basically, I bought two Primavera tickets, as a couple, and we have now broken up. I was going to find someone else to go with me, but then I also got tickets for the Champions League final through the ticket lottery process that I forgot I had applied for due to alcohol.
They are on the same weekend.
I cannot re-sell the football tickets.
It kills me to have to try and sell the Primavera tickets, but it's got to be done.
I'll sell them for cheaper than they're costing at the moment as I got them a while back.
Would be ace if anyones interested.
Thanks!
Time schedule
Looks like there is a slight delay to this being published due to some bands not wanting to clash with the champions league final!
I imagine the match is providing a serious headache to the festival organisers!
Saturday
is probably the least interesting day for me. You just know that Odd Future will clash with the match though, which will suck, as that has the potential to be a seminal Primavera performance, but won't be the same if it's half full.
Surely most of the American bands wont give a shit?
Exactly
And hopefully it shouldn't be too trick to re-organise if necessary. Presumably it's only Spanish and English/Scottish bands who would want to watch the game instead. Seems a bit cheeky on the bands part to me.
I took that to mean the bands don't want to play in half-empty venues
which could possibly happen if they're on at the same time as the CL final.
Yeah, much like apparently Glastonbury had real difficulty finding acts
prepared to play at the same times as Bruce Springsteen and U2
Is it the bands wanting to watch the match though or is it
the thought of playing in front of depleted audiences?
Recreational drugs question
Never been to Primavera before... how easy is it to pick up stuff there? Are they easily available inside the parc del forum, or is there a particular place to pick them up? Do you need to find contacts outside of the festival?
I want to be high as a kite for at least Flaming Lips & Dean Wareham. Cheers.
stage times
any one have stage times for the artists? is there one available yet?
it's pretty easy.
apparently.
I was wondering this
as didn't notice last year but we're staying with a local who used to work for Ibiza Rocks so I'm guessing he'll know!
Was offered lots last year
can't comment on their quality though as I had stuff from friends.
Cool thanks everyone.
Not so much the first couple of times I went but last year I was
offered all sorts. You shouldn't worry.
Doubt it's much to do with the bands
Though I'm sure it was far better for the festival organisers when the football was on the Wednesday (and me!), I can't see it having much to do with the bands really. Like someone said, the Americans probably don't even know what it is, let alone care. Don't think the timetable is ever released until about a fortnight before, and they've got a new stage to plan around this year too
600th reply
This is going to be amazing you shower of bastards. I hope they put Pulp up against the CL Final.
* Sufjan Stevens
No contest
It's gonna be PJ Harvey or Fleet Foxes on the main stage. If people leave to watch the football, all the more room for me. I hope Barca win anyway!
We're staying on a houseboat
http://www.barcelonacheckin.com/en/n/accommodation_barcelona/sant_marti/20039_port_olimpic.php
£27 a night per person. Can make trips on request - on the same coastline as the festival (about 3 km away).
Since I work in the field of sport, I will be wanting to watch the Champions League final - so if any DiSers want to join me...!
Also, as i'm partially reviewing the festival, I've been given access to some portal or other where there's a Primavera Pro thing going on. I don't really understand it, but since none of my friends have accreditation I'm not sure I can use it that much! Which is a shame.
Primavera Timetable!!!!!!!...well early draft...
http://ow.ly/4NVQy
It's only a draft at the moment. Keep the link it will be updated as soon as the times are released. Main Stage times and Audiori headline times are based off last year's timetable. I've even added some colour to show you when the CL Final is.
PM me any error, etc.
Really can't figure out
where the llevant stage is going to be... Hopefully not much longer to wait for the final times and stage details...
it's behind the ATP stage
isn't that the vice stage?
no, I thought the vice stage is where the pitch4k stage was in 2008
...down the steps next to the posh ships
No pitchfork is there
Vice was there in 2008... I read on the forum that they were extending the site past where vice was but not sure if that's right
wait hang on how do you know this?
also
what is this crazy llevant stage?
also
thanks.
:D
based off last year's times
I'll populate it with offical times as soon as they are released.
oh i see!
rad, thanks a lot bro
What do you mean "last year's times"?
There's been absolutely no indication what order bands are going to be playing in.
I'll send your refund via paypal
Sorry I wasn't having a go
(though I realised it sounds like I was) I just wondered what you were basing the times on, tis all.
Ha, I don't even have a paypal account!!
The times and orders are just an educated guess...prepared to get your heartbroken with official clashes tomorrow.
how jah know
the official times are announced tomorrow? eh? EH?
I WANT THE TIMES!
Hope they're published soon
i thought they came out today
am i wrong?
I think they do
But nothing online yet and I'm being impatient
I'd be surprised
if we see them today given the difficulties that have arisen with the bands asking not to play at the same time as the match. Inevitably this will have played havoc with the timings they had planned. Not to mention the possibility of them now closing certain stages during the match..
See Fleet Foxes...
then run over the road to the nearest bar for the CL final?
Ok then.
Stages
So far as i understand it, which might not be particularly well, Pitchfork is going where Vice used to be before being moved behind ATP (down the steps, by the sea), old Pitchfork area is going to be used for more food stalls/wi-fi/rest areas and so on, and Llevant is a new big stage on extra land they've aquired the other side of ATP/Vice stages. As for times, anyone's guess, but they indicated on their forum maybe around May 6, which is tomorrow ;-)
^ thiss
Thursday will be working out where the stages are and how the drinks system works/doesn't-work
According to the organisers on the official forum
None of the "big" acts want to play at the same time as the match is on and apparently, something I hadn't know about before, it's in their contracts that they can choose the time of their performance - that must be a nightmare to organise!
wtf this is so silly
surely, SURELY, there will be so so so many people who don't give a monkey's about the football?
if it wasn't barcelona in the final, maybe.
they're pretty nuts about football
yeah but it's not like its the world cup or anything
some people would say it's more meaningful.
including me.
Including most Catalans as well I would imagine
I can see Mogwai refusing to play then but surely PJ doesn't give a fuck
I doubt it's got much to do with the acts themselves wanting to watch the final
and a lot more to do with them not wanting to play to a half empty arena - of my group of 9 friends going (admittedly mainly male) at least 6 are planning to leave the site to watch the match, I can expect many of the locals will be planning the same. Kick off will be 8.45pm local time, over by 10.40ish so it probably means keeping bigger acts earlier / later than normal - it's my first time there but wouldn't the big name headliners normally be after 11?
I'm just wondering where everyone is going to watch the game.
I can't remember too many venues near the site, certainly not enough to hold everyone who'll want to watch it. Any ideas?
nah, bigger.
here's an article (in spanish - you can translate it though) about what going on
with regard to the football and scheduling
http://www.elperiodico.com/es/noticias/ocio-y-cultura/harvey-messi-998212
Seems like they haven't made a decision yet...
christ, what a mess.
i feel a bit sorry for the festival organisers. they can't win.
i love Chrome's translator
But the main trouble for the organizers lies in the demands of groups (some of them terribly football fans, as the Scots Mogwai) and the difficult task of reconciling the hours of that Saturday with passion.
TERRIBLY FOOTBALL FANS! :D
I like this (via google's translator, cos I use Safari)
."Our first reaction upon learning that coincided with the final at Wembley was to proceed with total normality, but unfortunately that will not possible: most bands do not want football match because they want to lose audience, "says the official forum of the festival and his co-militant culé Gabi Ruiz."
most bands want to lose audience
co-militant
:D
i'm kinda hoping that it's a perfect translation and that's just how people from barcelona write/speak
The bit just before that was good
"All of a headache, not just for the large parish indie soccer"
I am proud to belong to the indie soccer parish :)
Hope they show the game.
What an atmosphere that will be :)
especially if Barcelona lose...it'll be fucking lovely..can't wait
then clashing with anybody English who they think is a Man U supporter
gonna happen regardless mate
what is?
what you said
will happen regardless of whether they show the game or not.
Barcelona losing?
Hopefully ;)
But no... I mean the clashes obviously. If they lose, it doesn't matter whether or not they put the game on in the forum, if there is going to be clashes then they will happen regardless.
no there won't be
Barca fans are pussies
Can't they put the final back on Wednesday night like it always used to be?
I know, it'd still clash with the Bunnymen though! Seriously, I wish Platini had just left it as it was. Two years ago it was a great prelude to the Festival, now it's a real headache. I missed last year's final too because it was the same day as the Championship play-off
Ive got VIP tickets this year
but cant find any info on what you get by having them? Anyone know what benefits you get this year?
there's a big screen in the VIP area showing the football
also free beer in the VIP area and skipping the auditori queues.
How do you know they have a screen showing the final?
Is there a limit to the free beer like some kind of quota or is it really unlimited?
and why do i always miss the VIP tickets?
sod...
...the football. Factory Floor will be collaborating with Chris Carter. Oh yes.
http://thequietus.com/articles/06233-factory-floor-to-collaborate-with-chris-carter
floor / sofa? Need a place to crash
Anyone got a sofa/floor i can crash on? would be greatly appreciated. Only got ticket confirmation yesterday so left it to last minute and now im fucked. Hannah x
updates of sorts.....
There is going to be a press conference on Thursday where they will release the new map and probably the timetable.
Both the LLevant and Ray Ban stages won't clash with the San Miguel but they will clash with each other.
The council will decide what's going on with the football clash: http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2011/05/10/cultura/1305061796.html (with an nice photo of Nicky C).
The new area will not have a new VIP area, there will only be one VIP area it will be in the usual place.
SWORDS IN STYLE!
A specter is haunting the Parc del Forum in Barcelona, ??the ghost of possession
:'D
OH JUST HURRY UP AND SORT IT OUT ALREADY
SSSOOOOO
Times out today, we reckon?
Please say yes so I can spend all afternoon planning my festival.
^ this
they had better not leave it until 5.29 before they announce it! I'm refreshing every 10 minnutes as it is!
It sounds like the press conference has just ended
Going by the Spanish forum and my dodgy translation they're going to release the map today but probably not the stage times, nor have they confirmed what they're doing about the CL final.
The portal for loading money and buying Auditori tickets will apparently go live this afternoon.
And that's about all I've been able to work out.
cheers bro
aarrghhhhh
I am desperate to get a ticket for Sufjan. Had better keep refreshing the site
loading money?
what does that mean?
To the cards you use to buy beer
More info here - http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=portal&lang=en
ahh, nice one
i haven't been for a few years and they were just operating that hideous drink token thing then. this sounds much better.
Any idea what sort of drinks prices should we expect?
To give me an idea of how much to 'load'.
portal?
Where exactly is the info about the portal going live this afternoon? It's now evening over there.
They said at the press conference that it would go live yesterday
but obviously it hasn't
I imagine they're waiting to release the schedule first because a key part of the portal is reserving tickets for the Auditori which you can only really do once you know who's playing there when and who they clash with (essentially which day do you go and see Sufjan).
There are lots of posts on the official forum about this, best guess is still "by the end of Monday".
flat share // hostel share
looking for someone to get a space with during festival, only just got my press pass so left it all very last minute. x
Think we might have a space in our apartment
Send me a PM if you're interested.
between tomorrow and Monday schedule will be available. Info taken from the heads beer in hand
^ this is a badly translated quote from Primavera not me
On twitter,
it says that times will be released between tomorrow and Monday :/

Enjoy zooming in!
nice!
Llevent to Pitchfork is quite a treck, but looks like there's a path - no more walking up the hill, then down the stairs.
Looks like
getting in and out of Llevent could be a bit congested but hopefully not as bad as Vice last year...
a bit concerned about the trek
between Llevent and San Miguel, especially on Friday when i have the fear of The National and Belle and Seb playing similar time slots. I can't see them both clashing but i can see some running between the two.
Feels like we've been waiting forever for times. Better be tomorrow.
Still, MEGA EXCITED.
oh and no stage
undercover? Probably for the best as the big poles did obstruct view....but it wasn't too bad.
its the best thing they could have done
the sound in their was terrible and the atmosphere rubbish
looks like
an exit on to the beach by Llevant too. And three stages by the sea, amazing. Good work Primavera!
yeah definitely rubbish atmosphere
and thought the sound was ok as i was dependent on that due to not being able to see! Anyway, very glad everything is outside.
definitely my least favourite stage
Thanks, but where are you seeing that?
I'm looking at their Twitter feed and can't see anything.
Just had a thought
has anyone seen anything about what is happening with drinks and stuff on the Wednesday night Poble Espanyol?
just made a list of bands i wanna see
it's pretty long
You said further up to my VIP question that
there would be a big screen in the VIP section, was that a guess? Also with the free beer,is their some kind of limit/quota? Thanks
uh, no i didn't
that was fiddygent
ah sorry, got mixed up in the 600+ posts
I was jesting about the screen
I believe the beer is unlimited but just in the VIP area so you've got a long walk if you're at the LLevant stage.
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by info
Well, specifically the different venues and finding them.
However, i'm going to start a MEAT thread next Wednesday and then I'm planning on meeting some people who actually know what they're doing. We didn't leave the forum last year.
I'm jealous of all you Dissers who are primavering this year.
I had a fucking ball last year and wish i could go back. I hope you all have a wonderful time :)
People who know what they're doing?
This will be my 5th Prima and I haven't a clue, this swapping around of the stages thingy just contributes to my alzheimer’s.
UPDATEEEEEEE
Barcelona, ??May 12 (EFE) .- The English singer-songwriter PJ Harvey, head of
Primavera Sound Festival poster on 26 May, has asked the
organization that its action begins once the party
Champions to be held the same day to facilitate attendance
his followers.
According to sources within the organization, the application has been accepted because
"Makes sense" as PJ Harvey performs on stage largest
festival, which has a capacity for 30,000 people.
The concert by British artist start "just after" the final
Champions League, so that organizers fear "problems
crowding at the gate. "
In this sense, the Primavera Sound Festival defends the appropriateness of
"Use some of the festival screens" to relay
party and to avoid, so that the exit festival audiences
enclosure and try to "re-enter whirlwind, just as the
fans are directed to the center to celebrate the victory. "
For its part, the Barcelona City Council considered counterproductive
install a giant screen in the Forum area because it would involve "a
massive presence, beyond all expectations of the festival itself. "
"Perhaps at some point could build on the festival screens
to know what is happening in the field, "he said today
Delegate of Culture of the City of Barcelona, ??Jordi Martí, who, not
however, clarified that "the Forum is to go see the Primavera Sound and

excuse me?
this means no screens in Primavera?
I'm guessing that's been put through a translator?
Got the original link?
dude
you should use google translate if you're not. it makes slightly more sense than what you're using.
...
Barcelona, ??May 12 (EFE) .- The English singer-songwriter PJ Harvey, headlining the Primavera Sound Festival on 26 May, has asked the organization begins its action once the match of the Champions to be held the same day to facilitate the attendance of his followers.
According to sources within the organization, the application has been accepted because it "makes sense" as PJ Harvey performs on stage largest festival, which has a capacity for 30,000 people.
The concert by British artist start "just after" the final of the Champions, so that organizers fear "problems of crowding at the entrance."
In this sense, the Primavera Sound Festival defends the appropriateness of "using one of the festival screens" to broadcast the game and avoid, so that the festival crowd out of the room and try to "re-enter waterspout just when fans are directed to the center to celebrate the victory. "
For its part, the Barcelona City Council considered counterproductive to install a giant screen in the Forum area because it would involve "a massive presence, beyond all expectations of the festival itself."
"Perhaps at some point could build on the festival screens to know what is happening on the pitch," said today the CEO of Culture of the City of Barcelona, ??Jordi Martí, who, however, clarified that "the Forum is to go see the Primavera Sound and not to watch football. "
Festival director, Alberto Guijarro, has sated that "if finally put a screen inside the enclosure, we will have no problem in strengthening security if deemed necessary."
Asimismo, Guijarro ha recordado que la final de la Champions y el concierto de PJ Harvey caen en sábado, por lo que "el metro estará abierto toda la noche" y "facilitará las cosas". Also, Pebble recalled that the final of the Champions League and PJ Harvey's concert falls on a Saturday, so "the metro will be open all night" and "make things easier."

my google thought it was Spanish not Catalan, stupid google
tribute to these wonderful translations will be the translation of all my messages from English to Spanish and vice versa from now
Oh of course, I've been translating everything from "Spanish"
Not Catalan. Stupid me. I know they speak Catalan. Gah.
May as well be written in Urdu,
pleased to hear the meter will be open all night though.
thank God!
Whats the meter that will be open all night
if you excuse my ignorance?
metro?
i presume
Meter = The metro, I guess
As it's open all night on Saturday
Way I'm reading the post, they'll be putting the football on the regular screens, but not have a special big screen. I'm not sure that makes sense though.
yeah
that's how i read it too
makes the whole "need to strengthen security if they errect a big screen" argument a bit invalid though
not really.
lots of smaller crowds means much lesser potentially for things to kick off than one big crowd of conflicting fans.
Yes but have you considered the
"re-enter whirlwind, just as the
fans are directed to the center to celebrate the victory" scenario?
Won't be a problem
Because the fans will already be in the festival - so there will only be one mob of fans moving out (to the center), not one mob trying to re-enter and the other lot trying to leave. (I'm reading that sentence as 'the game will be over; and some people will want to go back to the festival, and some will want to go to Ramblas to celebrate, and they'll crash into each other'.)
However, I will watch out for whirlwinds.
So a few small screens around the festival showing the final
and no main act until it is finished?
this sounds like the best solution to me
no huge congregations of people, no coming and going from the site, and still most of the 'smaller' stages running for people who dont care about the football.
Now lets get that timetable!!
timetables
Some bored, overenthusiastic fans took a stab at predicting the timetables. I wonder how close the real ones will be:

if this does turn out to be correct
then who wants to come and watch Gang Gang Dance with me whilst deadonthestairs gets lost in the mob whirlwind?
Also, does the second translation point toward it being shown on one screen only?
yeah
Gang Gang Dance > soccer
As long as Deerhunter & Pulp don't clash on Friday I'll be happy
Hoping some good stuff is on during THE MATCH. I'll be interested in the scores and that but I like music more than football :-)
I hope that's wrong about Thursday
because they've put Suicide, Interpol and Emeralds all clashing.
vip tickets
Is it just free beer at the enclosure near the San Miguel stage?
Did VIP include free Jager a couple of years back?
To the person asking about drinks prices
Last year it was 4E for a beer and 6E for a spirit and mixer
The spirit and mixer was basically half a pint of spirits with a splash of mixer
i thought it was 5E for beer and E7 for a long drink
could be wrong though
Those prices are imprinted on my sole as I started thinking multiples of 4 and 6
Long drink with red bull was 7E
Um, could I have a bit more coke in this please?
please let the Jack Daniels shack be back
They ran out of coke on the last day.
"sorry we have no coke"
"Can you just fill up the glass it up with JD"
"Yeah ok"
I got very very very drunk that day
:D
kings among men
I'm gonna get lost out of my face in the whirlwind.
Can't wait!
Times are starting to go up
http://www.primaverasound.com/ps/?page=parc-del-forum&lang=en
the times for the San Miguel stage
have been released. Not a massive help but a start! On the website.
Looks like they
are doing it a stage at a time just started the Llevant stage
why's there no time for fleet foxes on the saturday?
san miguel stage?
why am I finding refreshing the page SO EXCITING?
First official times
for main stage...added (expect Fleet Foxes)

so far so good
on the football front!
Looks like PJ clashes with the end of the game
She starts at 22.30; game won't finish till around 2245, even if it doesn't go to extra time.
I guess that's so that some of the crowd leave the screen a bit early
so it's not a mad rush to the stage, but that's assuming the people watching are disinterested enough to miss the end of the game.
No clashes on the Llevant stage with the game either
and I would guess that they may well hold back the start of PJ's set until after the game has ended, though doubt they could hold it back by an hour if there was Extra Time / Penalties.
what screen?
is there a screen at the Forum with the game on?
that seems to be the rumour
scroll up this thread a bit and there's a long post on it, and would explain them keeping the San Miguel and Llevant stages empty at the same time the game is on - if you look at the map they released yesterday it looks like both those stages will have big screens (the triangles either side of the stage) whereas none of the other stages have them
makes sense, cheers
dear lord
I was expecting this but it's still a shock. I have to be awake from 1.45 to 3.15 to watch Pulp! I'm going to have to become semi nocturnal. I normally fall asleep at midnight at festivals!
You just need to adjust your body clock to Spanish time
A couple of nights out before the festival will help this. You'll soon embrace getting up at 4pm
Girl Talk @ 5am on the Thursday
really hope I can last!
me too!
I think my strategy for this festival should be: don't start drinking at 11am.
This so much.
Flaming Lips, El Guincho and then Girl Talk will be amazing :D
YES!
No B&S and The National clash! :D
:(
3 hours of Tweedom
I hope the National don't clash with anyone my friend wants to see
I don't want to watch them on my own :(
tillance you can come see the national with me
i'll even hold your hand if you want ;)
:D
Yes pls <3
Simian Mobile Disco
at 3:45am. Niiiiiice
two big ones there
Battles/Simian Mobile Disco and Deerhunter/Explosions in the Sky
another..
mogwai/swans
Swans
Caribou v Interpol v Das Racist v Suicide
All of whom I'd be happy to see. At least Caribou play the Poble Espanyol. And I've seen Suicide play 'Suicide'. But it was great...gah!
suicide any day of the week
interpol are fucking wank
got to go now
I'll update the rest a bit later, you can wait till then, eh?
PIL vs Big Boi
who will win?
...
:D
B+S / Low / Twin Shadow
hmmmm...
this is very nice
BUT can you change the freeze so it isn't ten cells down? really annoying me.
</slow day>
done
i'm assuming he meant make it so that just the venue titles are in the freeze
What strange times
Battles at 3:45am!
Guess I'm going to have to reconsider my plans of a solid day's sightseeing before the festival starts each day :S
Seem to recall they played at a similar time a few years back.
Yeah forget the sightseeing, I have in the past fallen into a pattern of leaving the site around 6am, back for some sleep, wake up around 2, cleanse myself, eat, back to festival for around 6pm and start all over again.
Friday night
is a massive pile-up. This line-up is immense
hyperbole maybe
but looking at stagetimes i dont think a festival will have so much incredible stuff on again in my lifetime. almost cant believe it
Anyone know what time the Metro starts up again in the morning?
I know it's not an issue for Sat night as it's 24hrs then, but last year the main acts were done and dusted by 3-4am on Thurs/Fri and there was a bit of a fiasco with the laid-on coaches back to Placa Catalunya. Would rather avoid that and catch the Metro this time round
Around 5 / 5.30 ish
WARNING: The above could be utter bollox.
fiddygent
at Primavera i would like to buy you a pint (beer/spirits) for continued services to simplifying getting excited about the festival, via spreadsheets and spotify.
Can I suggest that we mothball this thread soon, and start a new one?
It’s getting a little too big for my browser to handle now.
(obviously, the OP in the new thread should include a link back to this one)
to be expected I guess, but literally everything I want to see clashes with something else
also, this is totally not because I'm An Old now, but because I can't sleep past 10am, but I'm kinda glad there's not much I'm interested in on after 3am aside from the first day.
overall, a thumbs up Primavera
I look forward to your thread where you bemoan your inability to go…
Spain's alright, but I really want to go north - http://wikifestivals.com/wiki/hovefestivalen
Bars?
Looking for a bar near the festival site or the city center that's open at 2pm and large enough for a sizable meetup. Think a few dozen people, or so. Anyone know of such a place? Thanks!
your mum
wants a sizable meetup.
bars?
in barcelona?
dont be silly!
