The sad death of a beautiful piece of broadcasting.
Looks like even the nice folks at Resonance have a dark side...
slightly rubbish communication but hardly threadworthy
he could have just phoned him up, liek
would be boring, but to then start bad mouthing on twitter, as above, worthy of a thread I think.
Don't worry, I'll start another thread about which is everyone's favourite Radiohead album in a minute. Reset the balance.
where a taxi service that I'm often responsible for liaising with just were not replying to my emails. They were doing the work I was asking of them, but they were not telling me about it so I could then inform the clients who would be using the service.
I brought this up in a team meeting, and one of my co-workers told me that she had the same problems, but she would just ring them up and confirm it over the phone.
My point was this, and I think it applies in this situation as well: it's 2010, email is a standard form of communication, and you shouldn't have to ring someone to chase a response to an email. You just should not have to. Especially the case if they initiated the contact via email in the first place.
Obviously we're only getting one side of this but I honestly don't see how anyone can say this doesn't make Resonance look really really shitty.
but with a serious issue like the one we're referring to a call wouldn't have gone amiss, and i'm sure the guy he is speaking to would get countless emails. where i work its not irregular to get 40-50 emails per day, so if theres something you need to chase you always do it by phone. i've been guilty many times of reading an email, going to lunch then having 5-10 when i get back and forgetting about it.
i feel we're going slightly off track though.
They go on Twitter and slate him publicly for "ego-gymnastics", not in response to anything Tundra had said, but just because... well, why?
And that isn't even getting into the fact that they've terminated someone who was somewhere between an employee and a contributor with no notice and not even directly.
People like Resonance are meant to be "the good guys", and this makes them look kinda shitty.
His shows were consistently fantastic and his response to the original email seemed very fair and constructive. To hear from someone else that your show's been cancelled 3 hours before going on air for no apparent reasons is pretty cuntish.
I don't know whether it has any bearing on the twitter updates from today, but yesterday was the Resonance FM staff drinks do.
really like resonance and max tundra, kind of gutting to see them fall out so publicly... two things i spotted which might be worth noting:
1. there's a final email from max / ben to resonance which is mentioned in that blog post but not quoted. if he flew off the handle (which would not be unreasonable) and sent something really nasty back then it might partly explain that tweet, though obviously not excuse it.
2. this is not the first time that i've heard of people at resonance having their shows cut and not being told about it directly. plus, of course, there's this old chestnut from the same guy:
