i know i could google it but i'm lazy
Sonic Youth killed it! stone dead.
With Ibold back in Pavement, they've been playing as a four-piece again and playing their early stuff exclusively.
Lol at the guitar sex at the end!
is that their regular set now? if so i'm gonna go see them in London or Manchester. i just thought they were trying to blow their buddies Malkmus & co out of the water..follow that!!
Saw them in Brooklyn in the summer (which felt like a pilgrimage), and was one of the best sets I've ever seen them play. Amazing how they continue to be among the best live bands on the planet.
Pavement have been amazing as well, so it's an awesome competition. Batter up!
They totally absolutely killed it. Loud, distorted and furious, and basically all drawn pre-1990.
Cut Yr Hair > Frontwards > Gold Soundz > Shady Lane, which also totally killed, and I'm not even a huge Pavement fan..
Everyone is standing pretty still for Pavement
terrible crowd. shameful stuff.
when they decided to have this in Vegas. I'm biased, but this should've been done at home in NY.
Get Bob's mic sorted out!
Malkmus guitar parts completely drowning out Spiral Stairs on Kennel District
like old times!
(the one they played after Gold Soundz)
Very glad I found this stream though. Gutted I missed Sonic Youth
Finally. The crowd didn't deserve it though. :(
That's totally the ossopite of what usually happens.
and he probably thinks he now won't get constantly bombarded by people asking him when Pavement will reform.
Not to boast or anything... Currently nursing a large hangover in a cheap motel for truckers
I agree the audience is pretty lame. It's been like that at all the US gigs I've been to. Even Pavement in Central Park was totally dead. It got going a bit during Fucked Up's set but for everything else everybody stood still.
Thought Pavement were a bit off last night. Malkmus looked less happy than he did in NY. Chavez were great.
No one jumps around at most gigs. I though London was tame compared with the rest of Britain, but man now I think it's awesome compared with most shows here.
the international language of ennui
sounding bloody marvellous on this grey Sunday morning.
were absolutely wonderful last night. Everyone standing near me went wild for them. Afterwards we had free beer and bands in the ballroom. Dead Meadow finished after 5am. Awesome festival. But I'm very tired.
What a set! Now that's what I'm talkin' about. Roll on November.
They came on stage late. :-)
The New Pornographers on at the moment with Neko and Dan playing. Never realised how much Carl Newman looks like Adrian Chiles. Kurt Dahle is my favourite drummer. Katherine Calder seems nice, like a sexy primary school teacher. End thoughts on The New Pornographers.
Looking forward to seeing Guided By Voices later on. Got an email from a guy I know who was at the show earlier, and apparently Mitch Mitchell confirmed that they will definitely be coming to the UK. Not official obviously, but if Mitch thinks it is definitely happening then I guess it probably is!
One of the May ATPs will be curated by GBV.
I chatted to Mitch Mitchell after the show and he said they had a confirmed Guided By Voices gig in London. I think he also said they were playing other UK dates and that the tour was in February but I was pretty drunk and can't quite remember. They're doing London, definitely.
Lets hope it doesn't fall through, or he wasn't just being mental.
Just saw the repeated stream of the show - started off a bit rusty (understandably) but really picked up, was really good! Bit annoying about the sound becoming really quiet on the stream towards the end, and it was quite short for a GBV set, only about 1hr15m, or did they not stream the whole thing? Only songs pre-1997 too which I suppose was kind of to be expected. I guess they are doing this for the entire touring schedule, and if so, assuming they are gonna be doing 2hr+ sets at their regular shows then we're gonna get ALL the great stuff from that era which I'm pretty happy about! Shame I'll probably never get to see awesome songs like Twilight Campfighter, Everywhere With Helicopter, Things I Will Keep, My Kind Of Soldier etc. played live, but 2hrs or more of all of the great early stuff is gonna rock!
Don't want to get too ahead of myself though, fingers crossed that the UK shows get confirmed as definitely happening!
I was just about to go to bed too.
Is anyone able to capture this? Or at least be able to explain how to do that.
trying it out now, seems to be recording
