i was utterly 'meh' about this record. really need to give it another go but there's too much great stuff sucking me into its vortex at the moment, like Blondes, James Blake and Sufjan
review in here: http://drownedinsound.com/lists/recommended-records
and there are a few other DIS threads on the subject.
i'm not blown away by it.
I have Microcastle which is great. Are there any others worth getting? And what about Atlas Sound?
personally I prefer Microcastle/Weird Era Cont.
recently got the Rainwater Cassette Exchange which is a bit lamer than their other stuff but get hold of the song "Circulation" coz it's well good.
HALCYON DIGEST I LOVE YOU YOU ARE A GREAT ALBUM
seems more immediately listenable, and yet is definately a grower. Which is a good thing. I enjoyed the review by DiS, and although ive been going off pitchfork a bit, their review hit the nail too.
PS Deerhunter are amaing
I can tell it's going to take a few more spins before I get my head around the whole thing but there are some gems on there. Desire Lines is probably my favourite so far
After Microcastle/Weird Era I was a bit worried that they're become less abrasive and more straightforward and pop, this does now seem to be the case.
Shame as I love Cryptograms with its weird noises and krautrocky bits.
24-hour+ insomnia, listened to this on the tram on the way to and back from uni, it all made sense. very therapeutic album.
