...was just brilliant.
You lucky bastard. Am dying to see her play.
on friday. was uber.
All of my main gig promoting outlets didn't let me know this was happening... (or, rather, I let my eye off the ball and I didn't have a clue she was playing...).
I am now angry.
I mean I've seen her play with Rawlings before and it was beyond uber but, still...
and a fair amount of flyering. they played cortez the killer and queen jane approximately with john paul jones on mandolin. amazing.
Hadn't seen anything about this, let alone postering on the tube. Fuck. Where was the show?
Was this the show that was a Dave Rawlings solo gig PLUS GUESTS rather than a Gillian Welch gig?
If the former, did they actually play much Gillian Welch material?
Fpr Campfire Trails.
I thought about it, but didn't want to see Mumford and Sons or the other bands on the bill.
Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings, Dave Rawlings Machine = Dave Rawlings and Gillian Welch, ie she co wrote the songs and sings on all of them, its just that dave takes the lead harmony. But they also did maybe 3 'Gillian Welch' songs plus the covers.
So long as it wasn't a conventional 'Gillian Welch' gig then I don't mind having missed it. I shall not delete my Songkick account.
She said that she hopes to tour after the release of the new album. When that will be is another story...
I saw them about 7 years ago and it was fucking amazing. Played for about 2.5 hours. I can't remember the setlist though which annoys me...
They didn't play 'I Dream A Highway' out of interest did they?
Can't wait now to see a new album released.
It's been 7 years since Soul Journey! (Which I really really liked despite the more negative press than usual).
But it's apparently near completion...
Very nice. Gutted these passed me by
