It's not as immediate as Nouns but when it hits it REALLY hits
yeah, yeah, "I preferred their earlier stuff." Whatever.
Also, I think that they're rubbish live.
too much simplistic riffing and trashing. but this is well and truly a return to form.
though this might be because I fucking loved Weirdo Rippers when I first got, played it so much and got sick of it. plus I think Things I did when I was Dead is my favourite song by them
was anyone cool enough to have bought the 5 vinyl only eps that Weirdo Rippers was constructed from? worth searching for?
I have all those EPs. There's some great non Weirdo Rippers tracks on them.
but Teen Creeps is one of the best pop songs of the last five years. s'incredible stuff.
Nouns was almost on par but I can't realy pin point why. Nouns just didn't sit quite right. The energy wasn't quite there somehow. You could easily mash the two together and make a mad record though. Really looking forward to this new one. One of the only bands still worth watching along with Deerhunter and some other peeps...
pretty excited about this
I quite liked it, nice direction for them to go I feel
already, especially the track (i forget the name number 3 or 4) that has the scream in it that sounds like the feedback at the start of radio friendly unit shifter haha
Sounds like No Age doing Dino Jr, especially the final minute or so, and it's awesome
uninteresting, simplistic, and lazy.
2) It's not simplistic
3) It's far from lazy
4) Backlashes are for losers
Bands that peaked before their first album.
What's so impressive about it is how deceptively complex it is - hardly simplistic in the slightest. It sounds straightforward when there's actually loads going on in the background, buried behind all the fuzz and murk, which has always been the case with them. It's a bit more of a slow burner but it's far from lazy.
Really? They should put more of those on their A-sides if that's true.
Not sure yet if I prefer it to Nouns though it has some great high points. Still haven't heard Weirdo Rippers but I think it's time I found it it seems. I hope to be impressed!
i'm pleasantly surprised by it all actually
