Track from the latest good album:
I've only heard a handful of records (Big K.R.I.T, Reflection Eternal, Bun B, Shad, Freddie Gibbs, Rae/Ghost/Meth, The Roots, Big Boi)
Only a couple of those have grabbed me at all. What have I been missing?

Dunno, I don't listen to much modern hip hop so post mid 90s 3/4 good albums to me = good year for hip hop.
Not a Fat Joe fan, but excellent Premo beat.
'Address' is probably my favourite song off of it:
'Pilot Talk 2' is coming out this month or next, and the first release from that is sounding pretty good:
If anyone wants a listen...
These are the standouts that YOU will dig (there's plenty of others I like personally, but I dont think you will):
Scarface - Dopeman Music (mixtape, dudes still got it)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a6q7CgQifWw (starts after like 20 seconds)
Dumhi - The Jungle
Curren$y - Pilot Talk (you might not like the dudes style, but the producer for the whole LP is the same one who did Camp Lo's Uptown Saturday Night)
Guilty Simpson - OJ Simpson (all produced by Madlib, dude raps hard, cool album cover too)
Marco Polo & Ruste Juxx - The Exxecution (hard NY throwback raps, bangs)
Brothaz Bent - Up From the Desert (from 2007 but got it recently, you will love it for sure)
Black Milk - Album Of the Year (drops next week, but streaming in full at NPR)
been through each vid twice now and what really sticks out to me is Guilty Simpson, Ruste Juxx, Brothaz Bent and Black Milk. I'll have to get my hands on this shit
That Curren$y is beast
Feel like him high everytime I listen to it mind- can't be good for the work ethic. Can anyone of you knowledgable hip-hop fans reccomend me something like this? A mixtape or album prefferably. I've heard a bit of Wiz Khalifa and thought it was ok... what else am I missing?
You're going to want to get the Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y mixtape How Fly:
The production of Pilot Talk is what really pulls me back in each time. It was 95% created by Ski Beatz, who is responsible for one of the all time great albums, Camp Lo's 'Uptown Saturday Night.' So... if you dont have that, then you need to be having that.
Also, you are going to want to get your hands on a grip of Devin the Dude's work. Incidentally, he is featured on the song Coughee Syrup on Pilot Talk. He's been around for ages, and largely gone unrecognized, but Curren$y's style is owed largely to the road Devin paved. Im sure thats why he went and got him on a song.
Here's a bunch of tracks:
Doobie Ashtray (LOOOOOOOOVE this song)
What a Job
Hope I Don't Get Sick A Dis
Motha (this is his ode to weed)
The albums to get are Just Tryin ta Live, To tha X-treme and Waiting to Inhale. Some of my favorite music right there.
That mixtape is pretty good. Much prefer Curren$y's flow to Wiz, but almost all of the beats are excellent. Nice production.
Have heard 'Coolie High' by Camp Lo before, but not much else. Been listening to 'Uptown Saturday Night' on Spotify all day, not really sure why I havent before, it's fantastic, lots of stuff going on. Loving 'Swing' at the minute.
I'll check out Devin The Dude later definitely. Coughee Syrup is one of my favourite on Pilot Talk. Do you know if Ski Beats is doing the production for Pilot Talk 2 as well?
Thanks again though, good stuff.
All videos from Damon Dash's record label (which Curren$y and Ski Beatz are on). Surf around there, I havent heard if Ski Beatz is doing Pilot Talk 2, Im sure he will be involved tho.
Let me know what you think of Devin.
