Zuma for me. It's so rad, the riff from Don't Cry No Tears gets me everytime!
one of Everybody Knows this is Nowhere, Tonight's the Night, On the Beach, Time Fades Away, or Zuma.
Everybody's Rockin' has the best backstory, but I've never listened to it... I'm probably not missing out on anything.
I recently got Chrome dreams 2... it's quite disappointing really - except for Ordinary People - what a song! one of his better 18 minute tracks I think... the rest he could crank out with his eyes closed, arms tied behind his back, and tongue removed.. really uninspired.
from his self titled debut up to Rust Never Sleeps really.
Tempted to pick After the Goldrush today though...
I really like Everybody's Rockin'
Payola Blues in particular.
by a mile. On The Beach, Tonight's the Night and Rust Never Sleeps all joint second favourite.
but I love On The Beach. Got such a great sound and feel too it, great night time listening.
But really, how do you choose a favourite Neil Young album?
The last few months I've been playing American Stars 'n Bars the most, but that's subject to change. In the past I've obsessed over Tonight's the Night, On the Beach, Harvest etc etc. I couldn't pick a favourite if I tried.
Harvest for me by a long-shot. His voice is so powerfull throughout that album... What with the pain and all.
but from the ones I have (pretty much all the 70s ones, Freedom, Ragged Glory, the last couple) I'm going with On The Beach, no question. Its one of the finest records I've ever heard.
Or On The Beach.
Or After The Goldrush.
I love Neil Young.
Each of the first five songs give me chills.
'After the Goldrush' for me though.
After the Goldrush have a special place for me cos they were the two my dad had so I listened to them loads - they sort of stand alone. Harvest is pretty much the best sounding record ever made too.
In terms of how the band sounds and the songwriting tho it's Everybody Knows This is Nowhere tho isn't it?
or after the god rush.....or everybody knows...
his 70s output has to be one of the best runs of albums ever - there's an incredible string of consistently brilliant albums
After The Goldrush
and i choose everybody's rocking.
for me I think. I tried to create top 5 lists for albums and tracks after reach 1500 Young listens on Last.FM but it's impossible.
It's worth mentioning Live At Massey Hall as well, almost every track on that is as good or better than the studio versions.
It's getting exciting now.
Or wait, no, Tonight's the night... Or On the Beach or ah sod it...
Decade is the best Neil young album.
SOMEONE say Trans
it's the production that destroys it.
No classic though.
ATGR...ultimate drinking album.
Tonight's The Night...cocaine.
zuma is cocaine
tonights the night is tequila
the first 9 albums please?
From the s/t one right up to Comes A Time.
That covers EKTIN, ASn'B, On The Beach.... wow
And then throw in Silver & Gold from the last few years.
And take it easy
On the Beach, Tonight's the Night, Ragged Glory, Sleeps with Angels, Everybody knows..., This Note's for You all among my favourites.
Usually when asked this question though, my answer would be Mirrorball. Pearl Jam add a welcome bit of energy to things compared to Crazy Horse.
