'The Idiot' is a better album than 'Low'.
They're both great but Low has got something about it that just transcends everything else, it's possibly my favourite album of all time.
...and while The Idiot is a fine album Low is just so much more nuanced (ouch - pretentious) and contains a greater variety of styles. I'd say that Low is maybe the quintessential 70s album.
only just though.
But I pick 'Low'...
Bear in mind that Bowie was behind both of them and they are pretty much companion pieces from the same period...
The Idiot was him experimenting with the sounds and ideas that would become Low, Heroes and Lodger.
No more booze for you, buddy.
