Napoleon IIIrd's gonna shoot into the top five. 4 real.
The bassist dropped one of his tape reels on the floor.
besides i'm holding mine for http://tinyurl.com/2u7dlna
and it got absolutely shat on by critics
when you reverse it back to it's normal state it's a really excellent record. too much david lynch on the brain!
Most disappointing live band in recent memory. They emptied the field at Green Man, and they were headlining. A bass-free fuzzy mess.
was really embarrassing- they started off with a sublime version of what would i want? sky and it rapidly spiraled downhill from there. Yet i've seen them before where they've blown me away, still one of my top 5 live bands on their day!
most soundmen being good at drums, bass, guitar (and vocals if they're very good) and pretty lost when it comes to anything else, especially samples/electronics.
I think it is to do with them being static, unengaged and charisma-free...
I have also seen them flop massively at Koko... it was a meandering load of old tosh.
and I didn't like them anyway but it was right boring and rubbish too!
The Koko show (if it was january 09) was pretty shit, totally. And Panda Bear isn't great live either. I love them on record but live I'm not really convinced - I still reckon with a good soundman who understands what they're going after they would be pretty good though.
Then I saw them in Elephant & Castle around 'Strawberry Jam', and then Koko and Green Man (around 'Merriweather') and they were absolute shite every time. I actually walked out of the Elephant & Castle show, they were beyond boring and actually just plain annoying, standing there, soaking up the anticipation of the crowd and somehow entirely neutralizing it.
Sorry, it might be this actually:
didnt seem to have the sense of fun, or the tunes, of 'in debt to..'.
I thought Strong Nuclear Force and Zebra were two of the biggest pop songs he's done...
This one starts with some really big sounding songs and then has a brilliant second half with some long percussion-y drones. It's a really coherent album, thematically and musically. It has a really broad range of sounds but they all fit so well.
I fucking love it.
meaning there are about 2 seconds before I close the tab, in which I can't find a embedded soundcloud or youtube link to actually listen to the music...
which is a shame 'cause it might be quite good.
i'll look it up somewhere else, and I don't really mind. Just might be an idea if you're having a redesign any time soon to bear that in mind, can be a little off-putting. :)
I guess you didn't find it in the two seconds you were looking!
next to lots of other little unrecognisable icons like facebook and myspace, the mind tends to glaze over.
had a listen now though of my own volition. and it's fairly nice, i might keep an eye out.
not sure album of the year yet though.
I wouldn't expect you know from that clip of half a song's outro.
Wait and see though, wait and see...
The pause button animates when the song starts to play, so people can see where it is if they don't want to listen, you know...
that may be the idea but it didn't work that way in practicality for me, and, as a consumer, I would personally find an embedded link to actually listen to the song in full more helpful than a low-quality clip of a song outro interrupting whatever else I may be listening to.
but as I said before my inital post was written in a bit of a grump, and I'm not that arsed really so no hard feelings and I shall give the album at least half a listen when it comes out as long as you don't stream it on myspace or something, innit.
I don't like them either :/
But you know.
That page is like an advert for what's about to come so...
