pretty good huh?
so I heard
I think I've said it maybe a few hundred times on these boards.
But that there's my favorite jam of all time.
It had the singles to propel it to greater heights, but the filler to keep you coming back for more. It was sonically ahead of its time, with songs like Synthesizer and Chonkeyfire. It had 2 really long spoken word/r&b jams that at first seemed weird, but have since only reinforced the strength of the album.
I used to get The Source and they dropped a 5 mic review on it, which was extremely rare (not sure if they have done one since). I built up all this hype around it and it exceeded it and then some.
AND FOREVER HOLLERIN, HOODY HOOOOOOOOOOOO, WHEN WE SEE COPS.
Totally different, they didn't try to rip off or continue the sound that prevailed on ATLiens. They shifted and went a slightly different direction. ATLiens is my favorite hip-hop album ever, but Aquemini is tucked right in behind it.
By calling it a poor mans version, with no further explanation, you are belittling it and shrugging it off, when it stands firmly on its own. If it didnt have Mamacita on it, it might even be considered on par with ATLiens.
for your well thought out logic and reasoning here
