but they're certainly up there. They make me proud to be from Edinburgh, and as a musician, they're a brilliant band to have as part of your heritage.
I'm very vaguely acquainted with Malcolm Ross (sometimes even bump into him at the local supermarket) and he's a very nice chap indeed, so that only elevates them in my mind. It's nice when your heroes are nice :)
then the June Brides. then someone from New Zealand. then maybe Josef K can have a look in. (and that's only if we don't count Arab Strap)
dont know who the june brides are
anyway i've changed my answer to Television. They're the best indie guitar rock band. Just for marquee moon. Josef K are the best british indie rock guitar band.
TVPs aren't THAT far removed from Josef K sound-wise though, are they?
Junes Brides are good man, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ukbxQiWFG8
The Verlaines can be the NZ band I choose. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eeuy8PD0bFM
i don't really listen to this stuff that much tbh, but it's late at night, i'm bored, and very little is happening on the music board atm so i'm happy to defer to your decision good sir.
all you guys win the thread, ite?
The chorus/"It's kinda funnyyyyy" bit in 'It's Kind of Funny'.
Except they do spoil it a wee bit with that "boop-booooo" sound effect that was also featured in 'Feels Like I'm in Love' by Kelly Marie.
lets pretend this never happened
I mean of "The Sound of Young Scotland" they're just not as loveable as Orange Juice or the Associates, but then that wasn't really the point. Overall I find them a little to monochromatic, but do enjoy a listen every now and then.
One of my best playlist orderings was my Domino playlist where Lightspeed Champion's 'Galaxy of the Lost' went into 'Sorry For Laughing'.
The Soft Boys
