actually a really good song.
Its a standard summer jam. The beat is forgettable (and not original) and Katy Perry's vocals have never done much for me. Snoop is about as cliche as it gets, and his verse is crap, but its a song about California girls, so who better to lay a few smooth bars down? For whatever reason, I think its pretty fun, every week or two I will hear it and let it play through.
it sounds good when i hear it on the radio, compared to the other shit you hear. i've never actually sat down and listened to it properly. i might do that now. will report back
That's what people do when they hear conflicting arguments before settling on "It's okay, I guess. Not the worst song ever, but certainly not the best."
People should be banned from doing that.
yes, i 100% stand by my original post. just listened to it there on proper headphones with my critic's cap on. great song. no qualifications.
and way better than ke$ha's tik tok even though theyre basically the same song
my prediction is that this song will be appreciated for the classic it is alot more in years to come
I love it and expect to hear it a lot in fresherrrrrrrrrrs'.
but her summer pop tune is mud
and if you don't like it you are a bad person
So sick of the 'indie reverse psychology' where all pop music is good now and if you disagree you're an asshole and a buzzkill, it's just as stupid as inherently hating all pop music. There's shit pop music too. And California Girls is a piece of shit, mostly because of the music but partially because I'm tired of people romanticizing California, get the fuck over it, it's not that great.
Agree with the idea that California songs are well tired, and have pretty much been tapped at from every angle.
But the place makes you tough, which I appreciate.
is not "getting it"
you'll catch up champ
it's like Tobacco Road : "I despise you 'cuz yer filthy / But I love you/ 'Cuz yer home"
but this song is, buzz killington.
i jest, but i do like the song. not everything has to be original and deep you know? this song is just soooo fierce
like they've used Tik Tok by Kesha as a template.
The song defines "pants".
But the ending gives me a hollow feeling of desolation and trepidation regarding the future of humanity.
You know the bit I'm talking about.
normally comes after spreading your man-muck over the screen, so I think I know the bit you're talking about. But I can't be sure.
if it was Ke$ha you wouldn't be saying you like it
I really don't remember that
Chorus sounds a bit like "Denver The Last Dinosaur"
I wish both she & her talentless fiance would jump off a cliff
"Oh I hate Katy Perry so much, you do not represent California girls, bitch." - Best Coast, June 7, 2010
"Fuck Katy Perry." - Wavves, June 7, 2010
and I don't like Katy Perry much
GET OUT OF MY HEAD
Chorus is awful.
The pre-chorus is brilliant as well. So are the verses.
She is boom ting.
genuinely. and as a rule i quite like katy perry. that song is balls and you know it. stop trying to get a rise out of idiots like me who bite when you offer such a ridiculous statement
The video is great, and the outstanding thing about that is that I've arrived at that conclusion more because I enjoy the idea of a gummy bear giving people the finger than because I want to see Katy Perry naked. And the more I think about it, the more I really do.
Disappointed though. Fairly boring, forgettable song. It's only been a few minutes since I listened to it and I couldn't hum the tune if I had a gun to my head. Nowhere near as good as the one she did with Timbaland.
"Teenage Dream > Teen Dream" troll posts.
i resent the implication i'm trolling. my lastfm stats never lie
It's no Hot N Cold
brilliant video though
"oh, I love the video". go wear an off-the-shoulder sweatshirt.
