I am a bit of a hoarder in ral life, find it really hard to throw anything away or part with stuff, so I imagine not understanding this resetting is symptomatic of the same trait.
Trouble is i harldy listen to any music on my computer - i listen to most a) on my Zen, b) on my cd player, and c) on internet radio at work. i only rarely actually load up a media player and listen to music at my computer :(
and it seems a lot of hip hop/r'n'b stuff that's horribly tagged with all the special guests in the artist field, so each one gets its own entry on last fm.
Which means i average over 56 tracks per artist. This sounds about right as i like to give every band i listen to a lot of attention and a fair shout at making an impact for me.
truefacts, i know someone with 400,000+ scrobbles. he signed up the day after I did (in May 2003), probably because I sent him a link to the site. he then used his, i forgot about mine until may 2007.
I signed up in 2006 then got paranoid about 'them' spying on my downloading so I deleted the scrobbler until I realised I was being paranoid then rebooted it 2 years later.
Scrobbling since 2005. A bit skewed as a lot is stuff I only listened to on my laptop years ago, then has been boosted over the last year by ripping all my mp3s to my computer, getting rid of my CDs and having scrobbling enabled on my mp3 player.

good willy waving exercise. Yours is still the biggest.
bonus stat
44800 total plays = 4.1 plays per artist.
that's the important bit, no?
626
i suppose there would have been more had i not reset the charts about a year ago
752
1716
it's unrealistic though i chew artists up and spit them out like gum thats lost its flavour
page 61-96 of my library are all 1 play

i think it's around 1800 now
but i might be wrong.

Charts reset November 2009
Why do people reset their charts?
I am a bit of a hoarder in ral life, find it really hard to throw anything away or part with stuff, so I imagine not understanding this resetting is symptomatic of the same trait.
i really don't remember why i did it
i wish i hadn't, i'd started recording since 2006
The were loads of inaccuracies and poorly tagged files from my youth

and I haven't reset my chart. What am I doing wrong?

That's what you get for listening to loads of neighbourhood radio.
275 since joining in February
that's like 34 plays per artist.
there's a little tab on the top that says "social board"
cheers
i really wish i could get more into lastfm
because i love these kind of stats and all.
Trouble is i harldy listen to any music on my computer - i listen to most a) on my Zen, b) on my cd player, and c) on internet radio at work. i only rarely actually load up a media player and listen to music at my computer :(
get with the times indie boy
VINYL IS DEAD!!!111
i didnt say anything about vinyl?
what's a zen? i take it you can't scrobble it?
don't necessarily have to listen to music on your computer at all to have stats.
creative zen mp3 player
and i have no idea if you can. i dont think so?
oh cool thanks i will try that!
The semi-manual scrobbler for offline/analog media.
http://www.last.fm/group/CogScrobbler
nice :) this is the thread that got me into lastfm
Since then - 471 artists + 23950 plays, so 51 plays per artist.
1800
exactly 100 pages. i'm not listening to new stuff ever again. 40% of that is 1 play. hmmm.
644
I really should listen to more playlists.
3
Electric Six
The Drums
Hed (PE)
536
but I only signed up at the start of June!
^ this shouldn't have gone here!
Who cares?
hello social boarder
1009
28934 plays. So that's, what, 28 plays per artist. I've had mine since 2006 and it still has some cringey things in the top 50 overall...
1744
don't really listen to compilations or radio though, the 1 plays only start on page 81/97
truefax, i once came across a profile for someone who had over 12,000 artists in his library and they all had plays listed.
only 12,000?
this guy pisses on that: http://www.last.fm/user/skeleandmole
there must be a reason for this.
check his overall artists plays
something not right there.
he plays weird games
and add himself to groups. 1970 of them. turefaxxx.
How many groups are you a member of?
never added an artist manually, they've all got in there through plays
i think i'm in one or two groups? dunno much about them. stats are since dec 2008
I add them
to remember to check them out later because they show up in that activity stream that i can see and it reminds me.
i thought this guy was some kind of moderator maybe, but he is just compellingly weird...!
not as good as that russian guy whose top forever charts were basically:
Metallica 183,505
Trivium 3
Quite
He tried adding me thirty seconds after clicking on that link of his above
he has a lot of 0 play manual adds
and it seems a lot of hip hop/r'n'b stuff that's horribly tagged with all the special guests in the artist field, so each one gets its own entry on last fm.
How could you get an artist into your Last.FM library without playing them?
you can just add them
for instance:
http://www.last.fm/music/Steven+Seagal
if I click the "add to my library button" there I get:
http://www.last.fm/user/guntrip/library/music/Steven+Seagal
go to the artist page, and click 'Add to library'

not *quite* as fickle as I thought, then.
1,630 artists since 2006...
spread over 80,111 plays. So roughly 49 plays per. My 1 plays only go from page 87-91 though.
1,486
since 2004. but yeah, i don't really listen to compilations or the neighbour radio or anything........
2,858
1086
While i have 61830 plays.
Which means i average over 56 tracks per artist. This sounds about right as i like to give every band i listen to a lot of attention and a fair shout at making an impact for me.
i would say you win
well
151666 plays
1745 artists
86.9 plays/artist
except not really because i have about 20 artists on 1000+ plays
o.k.
I rescind the medal.
HOORAY
truefacts, i know someone with 400,000+ scrobbles. he signed up the day after I did (in May 2003), probably because I sent him a link to the site. he then used his, i forgot about mine until may 2007.
so much lost data :'(
May 2003?!
Did they have the internet in those days?
I signed up in 2006 then got paranoid about 'them' spying on my downloading so I deleted the scrobbler until I realised I was being paranoid then rebooted it 2 years later.
I needn't have done that.
816
I'm a disgrace.
A mere 530
So, what? I don't listen to metal or hip-hop. Hardly any classic rock or singer-songwriter. Not much pop, either.
440 since Jan with 26k plays
I tend to do most of my "testing" of music on myspace so all the listens will tend to be artists i've gone to the effort of downloading and like.
1,220 Artists in total
6922 Plays since 23 May 2008
9 tracks per day
5.7 Plays per artist
1 Plays: Page 39 of 68
2 Plays: Page 23 of 68
3 Plays: Page 16 of 68
Is ^This fickle/eclectic/other?
520
ah well
2751 with 33082 plays
Massive gap between 2006 and late 2007 and I never scrobble from my MP3 player. Still works out at 19 plays a day and 12 per artist.
1 play pg 100-153
2 plays pg 78-100
3 plays pg 65-78
Mine is also so long-tailed because I listened to every UK number one last year.
3636
Since 2006.
1,576 Artists in total
There you go.
1,400 artists in total..
with 28,078 plays - so that's 20 per band, which is OKAY.
A modest 900.
29771 plays, which is 33 per artist apparently.
458
and I thought I spent quite a lot of my time listening to music.
3,198 since 2004
and yes I am aware how sad this is, cheers
1,994 Artists
I need to listen to 6 new bands, list them here
1829
Scrobbling since 2005. A bit skewed as a lot is stuff I only listened to on my laptop years ago, then has been boosted over the last year by ripping all my mp3s to my computer, getting rid of my CDs and having scrobbling enabled on my mp3 player.
1,728
And I can tell you now the majority of them are white guys with guitars. FUCK YEAH.
1,993
Over 3 years. The 1 plays start on page 65 of 111.
*2 years. Joined May 2008. Started scrobbling September 2009.
