ultrasound have reformed!!
RFB PRESENTS... ULTRASOUND
+ special guests
LONDON: The Lexington
THU 9TH SEP, 2010 7.30pm
Rockfeedback presents...
ULTRASOUND (special one-off re-union show)- When Tim Smith of the Cardiacs suffered (ironically) a heart attack, Ultrasound were asked to reform for a benefit concert to raise money for him, and of course they couldn’t refuse, so at the start of the new decade, the 5 members of Ultrasound met, and with 4 clicks of the sticks, arrived back home. With this a decision was made to reform - currently rehearsing and writing material for a new album. This marks a sneak preview of material classic and new for the cult Rough Trade band - former media darlings, fan faves and legendary characters.

Gwen Stefani
Amazing!
Totally going.
Fuck yeah
Good grief
I'm there.
IIIIIIIIIII WANNNNNNAAAAA
STAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUNGGGGGGGGG
http://www.wegottickets.com/event/86814
good work
tickets procured.
i still remember a beautiful moment of awakening from a mid afternoon crew nap at the back of the venue (sheffield octagon) to the sound of the start of same band being soundchecked.
lovely.
New album?
didn't expect that.
Does Everything Picture still sound decent? I haven't heard it in about 6 years - must check later on...
It could do with a TINY (geddit) bit of editing
i.e. chop off the long silence + bonus track at the end, drop Fame Thing (yeah sorry) but the rest of the album is goddamn GOLDEN, especially Aire & Calder whose outro still sounds like the 90's getting put in a blender and blasted into space
This is so ridiculous I have to go.
But at the risk of sounding pedantic: 'currently rehearsing and writing material for a new album' kind of makes the bit about 'special one-off reunion show' sound a bit like bullshit to me.
Only 3 tickets left on WeGotTickets!
Already have mine thanks.
What is the capacity of this place? Never been there.
it's about 250
wonderful wonderful venue
i know who the support are
get me
who is it?
i got a ticket but it's gonna be so rammed and sweaty and horrible in there, if it's not someone awesome i really can't be fucked getting down there early.
Fucking AWESOME
tell meeee!
haha would be hilarious if it were dawn of the replicants or someone else from way back in the day...
They're playing the Bull & Gate now too
http://www.wegottickets.com/event/89956
What with this and Kingmaker and a couple of others
I'm going to be spending a lot of time at the Bull & Gate in September
So
tonight eh?
I'M THERE HOPE YOU ARE ALL TOO
psyched
they'd better fucking tear up Aire & Calder tho (and Cross My Heart)
so worth it
I can't believe no one has replied to this post show, it was so.good. I never managed to see them the first time round, and it was remarkable to see themperform the way they did after an 11 year break.
I hadn't realised before how much those guitar parts add to the overall sound, and the old songs were great. not so sure about the new material, though that 2nd new song is pretty epic.
Yes
They were excellent. Could have done with Kurt Russell or Football Meat getting a showing in the encores though.
yeah Sovereign Heart was pretty fucking tasty
having the balls to end on a new song after 11 years = the new song must be epic
If only it were Ultraspank.
Amazing gig
Amazing band. I never did understand why they broke up after capturing my heart. It's lovely to have them back and (plug disclaimer) you can read my review of the show in the next Artrocker mag. If you like!
AWESOME!
Oh my god, that was one of the best gigs I have ever been to. It felt like everyone had been touched by their music the 1st time round, and everyone was singing back to the band. The band looked like they were really enjoying it too. Liked the new songs, but Everything Picture, Same Band, Stay Young, Over There....all were SO BRILLIANT. Bring on the new album.
I didn't expect it to be that good
but it was brilliant! The singalong to I'll Show You Mine was probably the highlight but was a great night. Tempted to go to the Bull and Gate gig now.
aye
it was really good.
would have loved Kurt Russell though.
the guitarist still looked about 25 somehow.
tempted by bull and gate show too as my mate has a ticket he's touting round to get an accomplice.
was anyone else a fan of minuteman?
I was always hoping for a second album.
I was!
Massive fan. Very under-rated. Used to dish out cd's after gigs for them. Matt was a really nice guy so I hope he gets a bit of success second time round.
So it's 2012 and Ultrasound have done an album.
Some people are saying it's good!
To celebrate this, they are doing a gig this Thursday at the Scala.
Tickets are £9adv.
But, because ADDING VALUE TO YOU ADDS VALUE TO US we've managed to trim the fat from the old price: http://www.wegottickets.com/sct/QWyXQQcEyt
^you can get a ticket for £5
Secondary support from a band called SCANNERS
Additional support from a band called DINGUS KHAN
Safe, Friendly, and Secure

Scanners = 20:30
Dingus Khan = 19:30
TONIGHT!!
spent last night playing the new album loud three times. deus ex natura is incredible. i think i'm becoming obsessed. tonight i would like to hear that, aire & calder (PLEASE!), suckle, sovereign, between two rivers, welfare state and obv same band, stay young and floodlit world. please please please aire & calder!
I saw their big reunion show about 2 years ago
and they played everything EXCEPT aire and calder
so fuck them
i've seen 3 or 4 of the reunion shows
and they've never played aire & calder at any of them
doesn't stop me wanting it though
and it's not like they have one good song and all the others are shit
so er
fuck you (?) (i don't even mean that)
hahaha
sorry that came across much more stridently than intended
yeah they have loads of good songs, although the new album ain't quite Everything Picture
hope the gig is great
will also say
that by far the best tracks on the new album are the four long ones. should have kept going in that direction tbh! don't change a winning formula etc, especially when that winning formula is overblown prog-indie :D
Anyone know what the real times are?
Doors don't open until 7.30 - Dingus can't be playing as people walk in.
i'd guess 15 minutes later
or maybe 30 later max.
