Some lovely harmonies towards the end.
Here's MY favourite early-70's big-band pop-song! It's Swedish. Those of you who've heard Blue Jam will already be familiar:
Off topic, but cool anyways.
whoops, also :D
I think this has got to be my favourite Dilla sample though
you've got to hand it to Scott, there's not really that much that Dilla had to do to that one
Just playin' man. I listened to One for Ghost earlier and had to dig out the sample.
This is my cut from Dilla: off the song Heat from Common.
I've been listening to a lot of the latter actually - both his ace album with Jimi Tenor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRzTfxasB_w, his Lagos No Shaking lp from a couple of years ago, and the great Lago No Shake remix package that Honest Jon's put out with, with great tracks like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsR1EUOuWhc and this on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJq9JUm8tpM
Back to Dilla though, the source for Lightworks is amazing, but in One for Ghost the subtle changes Dilla makes are just genius, makes it massively haunting, affecting and just amazing - definitely a worthy username :)
I've actually had The Shining on a lot this summer though, and it's obviously no Donuts, but it's got so many great jams on it - Dime Piece, Baby, Love Jones, E=MC2, So Far to Go, Won't Do, all amazing tracks, Guilty Simpson, Common, Monch and Dwele definitely > Busta Rhymes though.
We'll have to continue later.
I have Secret Agent in my to get list. Tony Allen 'Live' is looking tasty, and so is the other 2 you mentioned. I like that MVO remix you linked up.
The Shining is very solid. I could listen to So Far To Go allll day, no problem. Thats the album that got me into Dwele too, his new LP is out next month I think (featuring a Quik produced track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GkPIKO-PsA&feature=related ). Im not sure what the hell Busta is on about in that first song, horrible track but the rest makes up for it.
You got Welcome2Detroit? Its better than the Shining imo.
Haven't digged it out this summer yet that much for some reason, be sure to put it on tomorrow though.
The Dwele track on that is amazing as well, although I guess it doesn't have that much Dwele on it. The Shining's lovely but it's a bit more straight-forward than Welcome2Detroit which is enjoyably wack.
That new Dwele track sounds great - I'll add it to the list :)
but this track by the people who African Rhythms is sampled off is so, so good
and say this is my favourite dwele jam- love you right...
