me - Nadja.
I have radiance of shadows and enjoy it, but have they made any other albums as good as it?
except the covers record, to be fair.
and not bother getting any more then, unless they produce something sensational.
Perfect Symmetry's 80's synthpop fetish and that new EP are fairly different from the first two album's piano pop.
Their last two albums sound a lot more "American" than the first one
Well, up until the last record when they started becoming Queen.
plus have you heard their s/t debut? Nothing at all like High Violet, it's like country and western.
As a huge National fan their music is at least *quite* samey. So the OP has a point of sorts.
TELL ME I'M WRONG
"All of our songs sound the same!"
well, I'm hoping they'll continue to sound exactly the same.
They might as well only have one song.
but they're definitely one of my fave bands.
belle & sebastian maybe?
'We are the Roadcrew' sounds slightly different to the others but not much...
it is essentially the same series of notes and swells and wwwoooooOOOOSSSSHHHH!!!!! bits.
but its all amazing so thats okay
One is more minimal drones and repeated phrases while the other feels more composed, there are chord changes and melodies. To me the effect is very different and there are times when I want to listen to one and not the other. Their earlier albums are variations on the drone though, not sure if needed to get them all.
especially the drum snare roll thing
according to the liner notes, when Back in Black came out i think it was the review in Sounds which described it as "more songs about booze and humping" which is both true and entirely the point.
somehow he is even less subtle with the humping lyrics than Bon Scott. And his voice is more annoying. 'Let Me Put My Love Into You' :(
is a great name.
The Wave Pictures
anything Darren Hayman does
They may not reinvent the wheel with each release, but there's something to be said for consistency. Speaking of, does anyone know if they are working on a new album?
Not sure I agree all The Smiths records sound the same, take Panic, Girlfriend in a Coma, How Soon is Now for instance ...
there is the occasional curve ball like "Can't Get Over You" but essentially their songs are pretty similar.
cause like, that's totally inaccurate...
