It's alright ain't it? I mean, it's far from awful
Just copped a first listen of the promo I got sent today. It almost certainly is going to live up to those very high expectations. I'm keeping schtum from now on though.
isn't cause theres loads of better stuff on the album, as I was hoping, but because Jive blocked Def Jam putting out something Andre 3000 and Big Boi on, which is a shame, cause both those tracks were ace.
Anway, looking forward to this. All the leaks have been immense.
Lookin For Ya isn't on it, which is a massive shame because it's the best thing I've heard all year. Love that rubbery bassline.
Was the other one the track with Raekwon? Royal Flush?
but there are plenty of brilliant tracks on there. The collab with George Clinton is great, but there's a dynamite track with TI, of all people.
Which I really do not like.
A lucky lucky bastard.
I adore her voice
Turns Me On with Sleepy Brown is class, like a Stankonia era OutKast joint.
Night Night with B.o.B. is even better, and has the classiest spaghetti western guitar intro.
most anticipated of 2010 for me
knows no bounds.
Not sure I've heard a track go as hard as General Patton for a couple years now. It drives so deep, the beat is triumphantly menacing.
lyrically it's not as strong as Speakerboxxx by half but....good time rap, only one or two weak tracks on there, just great stuff
Thanks for finally helping me come to that conclusion.
But your opinion is too middle-class for me to even consider it.
he's trolling, and this has nothing to do with class.
You might get these jokes after you get a few more posts under your belt, bub. But you might not.
ohh I vaguely remember Kissing in Kansas.. (new profile, but long-time DiS reader). wow. walked right into that one.
Only disliked by internet forum trolls and that idiot music critic in The Independent. Be Still and Shine Blockas are especially great.
Someone elsewhere commented that if this record isn't influential for years to come, then it's a total waste. I cannot think of a single bit of the record that isn't completely flawless in every way.
Andre3000 is going to have to come up with some really special stuff to top this record. I like 3K, but I don't think he can do it. Best hip hop album of the year, hands down.
Its totally incongruous for the beat and reminds me of amazingly bad pop punk. I mean that should be a reason to hate it but I find it endearing.
Just automatically tune it out as soon as it comes in. I really don't know why that chorus was included, on the very next track Big Boi proves his ability to provide a much stickier chorus while still rapping (and rapping fast).
But it really isn't. The production on that song, SOMEHOW, makes it shine perfectly.
Plus, Follow Us has the line "It's like the game is haunted, 'cuz there's so many ghostwriters" and that is BADASS.
The way he says 'right nowwww'... cmon it's disgusting.
I echo what everyone else I said in this thread. Apart from the thing about it not being proper music. That's a bit silly.
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xdyiah_21783243_webcam?start=19#from=embed so so good. The sleazy funk vibe really suites live performance.
I find when some rappers play live, their live backing MC's can sometimes ruin it by having too much presence, but those two guys rock it!
on how surprising it is that Big Boi could make a record this great, weird and creative i'm going to tie them in a room and make them listen to Speakerboxxx on repeat until they admit that he's always been just as talented as, although marginally less fruity than, andre.
with him releasing an album. They have never released anything approaching wackness and yet people are acting like this is some kind of return to form. Screw that, he never fell off and he is just as creative as dre. I think I just repeated your paragraph in slightly different words.
bar Morris Brown
But for the most part, I just forget it exists.
This album, however, is a steaming dish of mashed potata...mmm, mmmmmmmm.
What the what?! Speakerboxxx was great.
There's no doubt he always had an album like this in him. Speakerboxxx is incredibly good (way better than The Love Below, which veers between awesome and unlistenable dirge), but it's not got the same spark that this new record has. It's such a diverse and interesting record, with a lot more style and flair than anything else I've heard of his.
it's great, but so old and i want new heaters for an album. he done brung it on every tune including follow us.
