Think Surf Rider out of Pulp Fiction. Cheers.
The problem with the first wave of surf bands is that they were pretty much all one-hit wonders, because they were mostly live party/dance bands who recorded one-off singles so they could get on the radio. Even Dick Dale, who did make it onto a major label eventually, was pretty inconsistent. There are some good compilations out there, though—the Birth of Surf is a good place to start.
Of current bands, I think the Bambi Molesters are amazing, Man or Astro-man have recently reformed (though who knows for how long) and there's a London band called One Fathom Down who I think are pretty fine. (I also have—JAG!—my own "post-surf" band called Plantagenet 3.)

weirdly I dont rate much original surf, the newer bands do it better as far as im concerned, the original surfaris were pretty good though (not to be confused with the surfaris) just get a few compilations and see what you like
