I got Harnessed The Storm yesterday, finally. <3
but the Other People Place is just the most amazing Drexciya project. Proof:
So melancholy! So beautiful! This album alone would be enough to stand James Stinson as one of the towering geniuses of techno let alone the million other amazing things he's done.
but haven't bought anything from there for a long time so haven't grabed it yet. It sounds brilliant.
I need way more Drexciya and related projects, I've only got a splatering of stuff here and there.
I was remembering what you said in a thread ages ago about how Drexciya deserved their own thread, and decided it was about time for that to happen.
I'm totally blown away by 'Digital Tsunami' on Harnessed The Storm - it's utterly beautiful, really energetic but really sad.
My knowledge of them is still pretty sparing - I've only got The Quest and Harnessed The Storm, and have heard bits of Neptune's Lair (though I need the repressed vinyl of that one!) - so any suggestions are welcomed. I'm starting to understand why they're so revered though, I'm steadily becoming more and more sucked into their music. I feel an obsession developing...
which cover almost all their 12"s too. Its their other projects where the limitless releases start to get super confusing.
James Stinson wrote 7 thematically linked albums he called the '7 Storms' and wanted to release them before he died. I haven't heard them all but the ones I have are definitly his most emotionally engaging work. Details here:
Then of course there's Gerald Donald's endless projects (Dopplereffekt, Japanese Telecom, Arpanet, Der Syklus...). You could basically listen to Drexciya for ever.
Just wanted to check back in.
Drexciya love. Got The Other People Place on in the background.
I end up listening to them for hours
