...and back when I was in a learning to play guitar phase, my tutor fella chose a (v basic) version of this as the first thing to teach me - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjNAeELQ_Z8 - talk about trying to run before you can walk.
Funny you should post this, as I just caught him live about 3 weeks ago. The show was pretty great, I think he needs to be seen live to be truly appreciated. His work just doesnt really translate to record, its good, but it just sounds like a guitar and a bass. And unless you actually see him doing what he does, it loses some of the appeal. Ive had the album Songs From the Analog Playground for years but havent listened for some time.
although if you know he's doing both the bass notes and the guitar patterns at the same time, without overdubs, then you can still get close to the full effect
i think live he would be great though.. kinda want one of his 9 stringers as well, though fuck knows how i'd play it
Maybe 6-10 a year, but I always said I would see the man if he came, it was worth it.
I see what you mean, its still very impressive what he does. Ill hook you up on a deal if you want to get one of those custom gueetars. I would never play it either, just hang that bitch up on the wall and admire it.
