recently listened to Confield and thought it was pretty good, can anyone tell me what album to get next?
It might just be the greatest electronic album of the 90's. Flawless and incredibly moving. Get it on vinyl if you can - its melodies are stunning, its tones and timbres are beyond my pissed analysis. Get it now. Complete with surface noise.
Though if you like Confield straight away you could go pretty much anywhere, it's one of their less obvious ones. I'd suggest TR, then get Amber (or buy both at the same time, trust, it's worthwhile).
Get the two disc version if you can - the second disc is another hour made up of two EPs released around the same time as the main album but radically different. Between the two discs you get a really rounded picture of what the band are (or were, at least) about.
Amber is also brilliant - quite gentle, almost pastoral in sound (and it has an awesome cover)
The later records are brilliant too, but some of them are a bit 'difficult'. You might not want to start with any of the recent albums unless you are already well into very abstract electronica (although the most recent is more melodic and pretty accessible)
with incunabula. it's pretty accessible, on a 90s IDM tip. it's interesting to see how their sound develops across the catalogue. generally, it gets more challenging as you progress chronologically.
or LP5. Any of them.
tri repetae is good, but amber is like a delicious groove factory
thanks for the recommendations!
