most perfect band in the world
I think Axes might actually be might favourite of theirs. It's so underrated. Not as many catchy, poppier tracks, but a really wonderful album as a whole.
the one i've listened to least by a long distance.
favourite will always be no shouts. so perfectly cohesive.
I quite like the kinda murky, dark feel that the whole thing has.
Listening to Electrelane always brings back memories of being in vehicles, travelling through countryside. I think it's quite fitting. I've always felt like it would be great to take a big long drive through windy country roads at night to the sound of Electrelane. If I could drive and stuff.
in winter with storms outside.
i need to find a record to totally rinse out and have enter my pysche for when the sequel comes out. something with loads of depth and atmosphere and STUFF.
I've never played Mario Galaxy, but they're totally a stormy sounding band. Maybe Nintendo will get them to reform.
I only had To The East for ages until Skins played them in a few episodes. Went and got The Power Out like a week later and getting No Shouts as soon as I can. They're just the perfect balance of noise and melody, quite simply.
is really filling the void.
oh and my I miss them. No Shouts is so evocative of a certain last summer in a place I adored living. I wanna go back. The Greater Times is still my most played tune on Last FM.
When searching for the ATP line-up this year, I somehow accidentally stumbled upon an old listing and saw Electrelane were on it, but didn't realise it was old and got REALLY excited that they were back together and playing at ATP. For about five seconds, then I realised that it was old and my world came crumbling back down.
Axes > Power Out > No shouts > Debut
I reckon anyway. 'No shouts' had some of their best stuff on, but felt a bit like a retread.
Only got to see them once because they always seemed to be off touring the states. I was surprised they split up really, seemed to have a few more albums in them.
So who knows what the future may hold
I miss Sleater-Kinney
I love all their stuff, its tough to pick out their best album. Suitcase (the Axes closer) is ten minutes that feels like three and pure genius! Oh Sombra rocks out in a pretty way that only Electrelane can pull off. GET BACK TOGETHER PLEASE!
was sitting in a busy train carriage in silence, when all of a sudden, one by one, each person started to stand up and sing To The East. IT WERE MINT.
Seeing them live was absolutely amazing and inspiring. I miss them so much :(
