it's a bit subtle for her
Will it? Nah.
Should it? Why not?
Why not? It's too plain.
the album title /\/\/\Y/\ is totally ungoogleable.
Arular's a pretty great album, and Kala had its moments, but she's almost impossibly irritating at the moment.
I missed her when she was just a good pop star as opposed a paranoid loon
then you have to accept that you are gonna be judged on the validity of those, and other people not spouting half baked or ill-informed twaddle isn't an excuse.
but i don't think they are ill informed. i also get the impression that she says a lot of things without really meaning them.
also, some of her lyrics where she deals with political issues in a more subtle way - sometimes without making political points - are often quite clever too. i love that she claims Jimmy was based on a true story about being taken on a date to look at genocide sites with a BBC correspondent in Dafur.
Everything she says is completely devoid of any genuine political meaning beyond empty sloganeering.
I mean look at the video for he new track, it's just simplistic greeting card bullshit masquerading as a deep political statement.
...for all the stuff in Sri Lanka? It's bullshit man, total bullshit.
but in actuality shes either
a) suer paranoid
b) exploiting her fans
c) BEGGING for attention
I didn't mind so much before but recently she's just become INCREDIBLY INCREDIBLY frustrating. The youtube bollocks is so sixth form, also if she had anything to back up any of her 'political' views she'd have some merit but as far as I can tell shes just saying stuff for the sake of it (or the first thing that comes to her head')
is based on Ghost Rider by Suicide.
Which is pretty mad really.
It looks ace.
She has been overdoing it lately with the mouthing off, but if the new album is great I probably won't care. If it's not... *shakes fist Homer Simpson-style*
to be all anti-everything and so on, she really has just burned and crashed and now it just seems like a parody of her old self, didn't she say something about how she doesn't mind being viewed as a terrorist? the thing is no-one does, if thats's the image she has of herself then it's just a joke.
it's a punk aesthetic for the 21st century...y'know...using a youtube cut and past and a style that could be taken from the cheapest of design programmes...it's this age's typewriter and photocopier..y'know?...i guess you all would've turned your noses up at the spiral scratch ep, eh?
'ooh...no colour...i prefer a record with a colour photograph, this is just shoddy'
you cunts disgust me....it's obviously a work of genius.
if Tommy Wiseau created album covers....
Just call it Maya. Typing out /\/\ /\ Y /\ is just awful.
As for the cover... I'm not fond of it, but the album cover isn't the point anymore, and from the looks of it, she's noticed too.
I love a good sleeve, but sometimes, it takes a back seat to...the music.
Almost everything she does is provocation, I don't think anything she does anymore is meant to be anything else. She's set herself up as one side of an argument whether that argument is worth having or not.
A lot of it is pretty laboured but I'd rather have her around doing it.
