just see what fans of cowpunk have to say about that.
(influence?) but it is my favourite genre of all time probably, especially if you define it very loosely so can include early sst releases and so forth
this statement makes me hot & hard!
There's just a bunch of bands that lazy journalists lump together. The worst perpetuator of this has been NME.
Post-punk though wasn't a unified thing by any means.
post-punk = what followed punk
this means a million different things tho, it's basically any music with a sense of individuality, any music which is not selling out. (selling out is a shit term)
Post-punk wasn't a unified thing at all.
Most awesome? Probably.
I cant be arsed finding this reet good quote from Moby but it was along the lines of "I dont remember a generation that looked back so much, that went to clubs where they played music that was 30 years old, it is a weird step back"
every generation until ours has been completely forward looking.
well done moby.
he was a lot more eloquent than my half remembered "quote"
Surely the re-recording/rediscovery of blues music and early american music in the 60's was alot more important to what modern music is now.Hard to define what makes a movement important though.
Punk was important simply for enabling post-punk to happen.
You appear not to have mentioned skunkrock.
The Wrekked Train
made it a lot better if you imagine it as one. More like individual independent grass-roots type things done for the love of music that sprung up after punk burnt that shit down.
So yr probably right round about now, basically just a DIY thing that is really inspiring and probably will be a bit of a template now the dinosaurs seem to be dying out a bit.
'Cept for reminding me of Just Like Heaven by the Cure, who are definitely shit.
Well done 'weco' :)
