a pretty unusual set, given that he usually plays guitar and pretty much always plays tracks from California ... really enjoyed it

most of the songs were radically different from the album versions, which are mainly guitar-based ... Mission Rock Resort and No Easy Way Down were probably the least altered ... but he often re-works his own material (he re-recorded many of his best songs with traditional Greek musicians on The Ugly American, and has worked with many different musicians outside of AMC) ... he's probably the single artist I've seen perform most often - both solo and with AMC - and every show is always special
if you like what you heard and what to hear something similar then either Mercury (AMC) or 60 Watt Silver Lining (solo) are probably the best places to start

I saw him do a pretty similar set last year.
At St Bonaventure's in Bristol. It was just about the best I've ever seen him. My fave gig of last year as it happens.

I've seen him several times over the past 22 years, mostly with AMC. He's never been less than magnificent. One of the truly incredible frontmen, but not one that usually gets a lot of praise.
