Merriweather Post Pavilion
Although I think my taste is well away from the DiS "norm" most of the time, with some very important overlaps.
Meant to reply with other suggestions:
Repeater / 13 Songs
You're Living All Over Me
Boxer / Alligator
Sister / Goo / Daydream Nation
As for your 3 picks, I've only heard Loveless.
But you already had that, so idk, this tacky hula girl lamp
Romance is Boring
Young Team, CODY, Happy Songs for Happy People, Rock Action, Mr. Beast, The Hawk is Howling
Dragonslayer (I sure hope so!)
BTW I've only heard bits and pieces of Loveless. I know, I know...
don't like being told where I have to start myself, so wouldn't expect anyone else to have listened to any so-called classics. some people on here have pretty specialised tastes, too.
Having said that, I've heard all your three.
For me. Probs older stuff like Sgt. Peppers? In the Aeroplane Over the Sea? Erm... Up the Bracket? Is This It? Am constantly surprised by what comes up on DiS (in a good way). Real melting pot of things.
you know it's true
Sea Change OBVS!
I love Odelay just as much as the criminally under-rated Sea Change. Or maybe you were being sarcastic... Oh never mind.
Surely everyone has heard Raw Power.
BTW I haven't never will, but I guess I've heard 1/4 of it just from walking down the street, going shopping, out for a drink etc.
that's about it really
Sound of Silver
Queen is Dead
FUCK you if you haven't heard that joint.
Once you hear it, it will stay in your head for years! Space is the place, space is the place....
sick of this game now
Off The Wall is the indie choice
Muse - Origin of Symmettry
Radiohead - In Rainbows
Coldplay - Parachutes
Manic Street Preachers -The Holy Bible
I've heard OK Computer and Loveless.
except for the person who rightly said Sgt Peppers then blotted their copybook with Up The Bracket
I'm gonna shoot for Electric Ladyland, but maybe that's expecting too much, in which case I'll switch it up to The Prodigy - The Fat Of The Land, which you all LOVED when you were 13. FACT
I've never heard Electric Ladyland though.
Didn't know which Hendrix to go for; probably a bad choice.
Pretty chuffed with my FOTL shout though. (And no, before some smart-alec pipes up, Future Of The Left is not a good answer to this question despite first appearances)
What about...Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid? Their worst album by a mile, fwiw ;_;
think that was my first CD. Always thought it was ultra cool because one of the songs was called 'Funky Shit.' Great days.
but I really don't understand how people who call themselves music fans can not have heard albums like this. You must actively try very hard to avoid hearing this. Aren't you just plain curious what the album that's been called the best of the last decade by about half of all music publications sounds like? (mind you, I don't think it's that great an album)
I just, y'know, haven't bought it and listened to it. Not difficult.
I may listen to at some point - I'd probably buy it if I saw it in a shop for a quid or something - but I'm not that bothered. I'm one of those 'don't wanna go past Ok Computer' people with Radiohead.
Hail to the Thief is their best, dude. A skillful amalgamation of everything radiohead have done if you are wary of a complete departure from the guitars and normal song structures. Just putting that out there for when you're ready to take the plunge.
How exceedingly weird. Whatever works for ya.
Blur - Parklife
Oasis - Definitely Maybe
I'd go for. And Revolver.
That's What I'm Not
If you've not heard that I despair!!! Still great after huge overplay.
That's What I'm Not Gonna Listen To.
but no great desire to hear more than their singles above a whole slew of other stuff I need to check out and/or obsess over.
All in good time. P'raps when the next decent HMV 5 for 20 multibuy sale is on.
you're boring and lame
Its the baddies boat in thunderball ?
the queen is dead
the white album
I've decided I'm a singles kinda guy, I think.
My CD collection is pretty extensive and varied, but I've not heard half of these supposed shoe-ins.
David Brent said it.
trout mask replica
are you experienced
(OK i dont expect the youth of today to have heard them, but back in the day i would have expected people to have)
That would be number one on my list for sure.
throughout the last decade
*cue lots of people saying they haven't ever listened to it*
Most overrated album ever
Is this it
In the aerpolane over the sea
I know, I know
I WAS UPSTAIRS IN ME BEDROOM, TRYIN ON ME NEW BROWN CORDS.
